Forgot to mention, we haven't gotten the x-rays back from the hospital yet so haven't been to Kinko's. And I haven't been able to set up the camera yet because I need help from my husband because I can't read the little print on the equipment. So will try om his next days off.

I am so glad the foals have a good sense of humor through this ordeal. Even if it's picking on you! LOL. Thanks again for sharing them with us. Ooh, the thought of killing a baby anything just because it's too much trouble makes me cry. Even if that baby doesn't make it, it at least had a chance and that gives your heart a good feeling. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't at least try. Love to all.

Frustration, frustration, the treatment on the twins is stalled. I haven't received the form from the equibrace people. I can't even access their website right now and he hasn't returned my phone call or email. Must be out of town or something but in the meantiime, we can't proceed with the treatment on Surprise and I'm getting more and more sure that we're going to have to put braces on both of Trouble's back legs as well. It did look like the ALD in his legs had corrected itself but now it looks like we're traveling backwards. So currently. neither is getting support on their legs and I have no idea how long this is going to take. It's so hard to watch and do nothing when I know they need help.
Both of them seem to be in good spirits despite being cooped up in the stall. Only anyone who walks in there is fair game. They're pretty sure you're there for their entertainment. Cleaning the stall is a real zoo. They play with the wheelbarrow, the rake and me. Surprise stands at the wheelbarrow gazing outside at freedom part of the time. Studying the world outside. Poor girl.
I noticed she's figured out how to hop around pretty well and not put too much pressure on that hock. That's a good thing, we don't need her to do it anymore damage than is done already. Just hope that Trouble's not doing anything to mess his up too before we get this ALD fixed.

Risingrainbow, you might want to check Blue Hills' board. Harley's fans are amassing a huge amount of information (links to sites, etc.) on possibilities for bracing, etc. Here's the link: www.eboards4all.com/820226/index.html . Good luck!

I'm sending prayers your way for the twins. Could you email me? I'm trying to send you something that was sent for Lukky. It may help the twins. Definitely won't hurt them. lovelyepona@earthlink.net
Your sent of twins is the fifth sent of twins I know to have been born this year! Vet and I were talking yesterday and he said its been a bad and strange year. He hadn't seen one like this in ten years! One set of twins is believed to be identical. Good luck and godspeed with the lil ones!

Thanks, devotee, for the link. I didn't have that one, and the one I did have wouldn't let me in. It was wierd.
I have gotten help from this thread and links but only one came through as the right type of brace for Surprise, now I can't get a hold of them. Thought I had my problem solved. So now I'll be hunting again.
Thanks again for your help. And sure hope Harley can be helped as well. Sounds to me like they're getting him to the right place though. Sure hope he hasn't done any damage to his joints already walking on those legs like that. That's what happened to Surprise! Her injury was from right about the time she was born and she'll be paying for it the rest of her life. So sad that we learn enough to save them after the fact.
Don't know if anyone knows that Washington State University did something earlier this spring on the dysmature foal and they say it's caused by some kind of weed. Can't remember the name of it but am going to try and find out. It sure would save a lot of people some grief to be able to prevent this darn thing. But the good news is, I was talking with a friend last night and she'd been involved with a baby as dysmature as Harley rubbery legs and all, and she made it! It's truly amazing what "heart" and committed owners can do.

Mikael - is the link up somewhere for the donations to your Twins Fund? We'd like to promote it here as well! How are the little ones doing? How's your cam setup coming I know it's the last thing on your mind....too much play time with the twins.

Hi Heather , I do have an online setup for the twins through paypal. The link is on my website www.risingrainbowarabians.com on the twins page. All help would be appreciated. I haven't gotten to the cam yet because I need help with the setup at this end. My vision isn't good enough to be able to read the little stuff on the equipment so I need eyes. My husband and my daughter have been working non-stop and haven't been able to help me yet. But hopefully soon....it's really frustrating not being able to do stuff like that myself.

Still haven't been able to reach the company that is supposed to make Surprise's brace so we're at a stall there. And have not been able to locate a suitable replacement. But the good news is the materials to make her a temporary brace have arrived and we're going to apply them sometime this weekend. Also, plan to get the xrays done on Trouble so we can get going on a fix for him too.
After yesterday's heartache here, thought you might all need a lighter story to lift things up a little. I know I do.
It was warm here yesterday and Surprise and Trouble seem to get pretty quiet in the heat in their stall. I went in and found Surprise laying with her back pushed up to the water tub to help keep her cool. Smart girl!
And Trouble, well let's just say Trouble is a boy and like most men his mind seems to be on mostly one thing, food. He's sprawled out, flat on his side with his face in a clump of hay, sucking it up one strand at a time. Only moving his tongue to manipulate the single strand into his mouth and then literally sucking it in like a string of spaghetti. I don't know that a picture would have done the moment justice, but I didn't have my camera anyway. But is definitely constitutes a Trouble moment.

Have you contacted a human orthotist? The make prosthetics and braces for people with limb problems. My son wears orthodics to stabilize his ankles and help him walk (sounds like what your filly needs!) They are made of moulded plastic and are VERY durable (think 2 yr old little boy!) Just thought I'd throw it out there! Good luck with the twins!

Thanks, kadensmom, that's definitely an idea I hadn't thought of. I did find another place that makes foal braces in Florida. Don't know if they're in my price range or not, but will talk with them some more. Also, showed the pics to my husband and asked if they could make the hinged pieces where he works. He's going to take the pics in and show them to a couple of they guys that might have the right skills.
In the meantime, Vee (the twins' mom) coliced tonight. The vet palped her and said everything felt like it was in the right place so that's good. Then he tubed her and her stomach didn't smell right, so she definitely has some kind of stomach ache going on. We did the oil thing and hopefully she'll be improved in the morning. The vet just left and I'm feeling pretty ragged. Sometimes it seems like these poor babies can't get a break. Prayers are needed again! They need their mom.

Prayers for Vee (and of course, the twins) are coming your way! Poor Mama, hope she feels better soon. Hugs to the twins.

Vee is doing better. She sure had quite a stomach ache.
I spoke with a vet yesterday who thought he could put glue shoes on Trouble and fix up his angular limb deformity in 2 to 3 weeks. Says he's done it with several foals with success in all. That would sure be great.
Still having problems with the donation account at Washington Mutual not showing up at branches other than the one we did the account. Will have to call corporate offices I guess to find out what the problem is. Sure do need to be able to get the TV people going so we can get going forward with treatment on these two.
Other than than, all looks good with the twins. Still trying to figure out the darn camera so you can see them. We can't get a picture on our TV but will keep trying.
Thanks again for all your support. It sure is appreciated.
