Aww no I didn't want to hear that! I just got on the computer today for the first time and read the message of where I could call to donate to pay for Fitch's bills and as I reached for the phone I saw the message he passed away. That's so terrible. But like someone said he is finally at peace and he is no longer in any pain. This world was too cruel for such a sweet angel and now Fitch has gone back home to be with God. Poor, poor Fitch. No one, whether human or animal should be forced to go through such pain and abuse. I'm praying for Fitch and I will light a candle for him tonight. Thank you for updating us and bringing us the story of Fitch. There must be something that can be done to not only stop these vile, evil monsters from harming another horse but what can we do to stop these thefts? No other horse and no other human family of a hrose should have to go through this misery and this murder! That's what this is, it's murder!!

So sad to read this story. So young to be sent to a auction and then finally get a good home and then this. Sure makes you want to put up a cam 24/7 365 days a year to watch over these horses. I hope they get whoever did this and then give them the same treatment!!!

I found these pictures at TWR and I thought some folks might like to see them... Fitch (on the left - before he was murdered) and his brother Abercrombie: Abercrombie and Uncle Buck (who has become his best buddy since Fitch was murdered) Abercrombie: Abercrombie: Apparently little Abercrombie feels very sad without his brother Fitch. And has really taken to Uncle Buck. When they are separated Abercrombie cries out in a panic looking for Uncle Buck. Thankfully Uncle Buck seems to understand that Abercrombie really needs him and is very patient and caring with him.

I knew I shouldn't have read this. I opened it and immediately started bawling.
May he rest in peace and Abercrombie live well.

I'm sorry but I wanted to keep this thread alive because together we can catch these murderers and make them pay! An update: First thing this morning the detective was at Tracy's place... Detective Bugsy is his name and it just so happens he not only loves horses, he has his own. So he is very set on finding whomever did this to Fitch. A couple reporters have called him and he has said that he intends to find who did this. He told Tracy that this is his only case, since he just finished his last one. One thing he did mention is that he did not know if it was related but there has been some animal type sacrifice siutations going on. He said that there were puppies decapitated, but he didn't know if it is related.. There are some really sick people in this world.. If this was the case it would explain why they would take the young ones and Fitch really did save both of them from a horrible death. It is obvious that this was not done by anyone who cared for horses or has any compassion. You don't drag a horse 150 feet that you intend to keep. I will keep everyone updated as I get news. The HSUS called today and offered any assistance we needed if we were not getting results but it sure seems that this case is a top priority!!! There's some terribly sad, heartbreaking and tragic news to report about Uncle Buck:
Abercrombie & Buck
Well I just cannot say enough how much I do not want to have to write this post. It is the part of rescue that breaks your heart and this one is a doozy.. so I am forwarning everyone, this is going to hurt.
The vet was out yesterday at Tracy's place and the feared was made a reality. It seems Buck will have to be put down, it is the only humane thing to do. He has been struggling with his navicular and at this point the pain is so bad it is causing him to not eat and deteriorate. He has been fluctuating back and forth and for a while there when he first teamed up with Abercrombie it looked like he might be getting better but that was just Buck being the brave horse that he is. TRacy has had 3 series of X-rays done and the rotation is getting worse now. We have also tried different shoes as well as boots nothing was helping.
Chase, Tracy's other daughter's horse who is about the age of Abercrombie has been in there with Abercrombie and Buck so that the young ones could play and Buck rest. Caballaro is in the pen next to him so they have been getting to know each other.
This will be very hard for Abercrombie, not what this little guy needed right now. I wish there was something that could be done for Buck but it seems he gave all he had left in him to help Abercrombie through this time.... and he was there for him. I just feel so darn bad for the both of them. I absolutely despise this part of rescue... sometimes you just can't do enough, the damage is already done....
And...
I hate to reply to this post but yes, it is now a reality. We knew it would come upon us sooner or later but I just had to try one more thing... then another and another. But everything we have tried has failed us. We have tried 3 different shoes as well as 2 differnt boots for him. I realized he is in a huge amount of pain since he has now became a Cribbing Addict..... NON-STOP Almost, he also has become very very grumpy to everyone. Which is so not like him... I cant stand to see him like this. Buck came to us and right away we knew he was a lifer no matter what. But as they say, every good thing must come to an end. I am well prepared for this as I had to prepare Katie. She was totally against this and wanted to try more things. I pointed out a few things to her to watch and she did. She has noticed the amount of cribbing and how grouchy he has become (He didnt have a mean bone in his body) as well as the time he spends laying down now. We do not have a set date as of yet but it will be soon coming. The only thing we have set at this time is we have decided to bury him along side Fitch. = ( He will certainly be missed by all of us. Tracy
RIP Buck, take care of Fitch. We will always love you.
