These things are truly awesome! And they do work! The barn manager at the Camp Pendleton base stables where I used to ride at used them on a lot of the new trainee trail horses out there because the trails are VERY secluded out there.. the younger horses would spook at almost anything. She'd call me, usually on Wed., and have me come down and work with them in the arena before we took them out on trail. The only draw back... they would get so attached to these things LOL...

What a cool idea! I would love to have the style using horse hair for the pendant. I still have some of my mare's mane hair and it would be like she was riding with us . When I had to have her put down, I cut some of her mane, thinking I could have jewelry made from it. I didn't know that they have to use tail hair, which I didn't cut. I have been trying to find ways to use the mane hair since. Also, I wonder if she can make them with larger bells...they would be great on the trails where I ride. They are private trails, but often hunters trespass, and it would alert them to our presence. THANK YOU for sharing the link

Here is a link to the place I buy my rhythm beads from this lady makes all kinds and they are reasonably priced. I have used rhythm beads for several years now and really love them. Not only do the horses get attached to them but you will to, it is so relaxing to hear the rhythm sound as you ride. www.rhythmbeads.com/

i've used them before when working on musical freestyles for dressage. like the website said dressage riders use them more and more to help count strides. when picking music for a freestyle, you have to match up the strides per minute on your horse to beats per minute in a song. the rythem beads are VERY helpful!!

Wow...is there someone on this board who is also on the AKHorsemen yahoo group? This topic JUST came up on that board as well . Someone asked about the origin of the beads and their relation to arabian horses. If someone here knows, maybe I can pass the info along... If that person is here...HI!! lol

Heather, This sounds awesome for Casper. I'm going to have to try some for sure, I used to do alot with beads so I may attempt to make some and put Casper's name in them (that way I can have a different color for every halter/saddle pad). (You guys would have been so proud of him yesterday, there were strangers at the arena (non horsey) and he stood so still (at liberty) and let them pat him all over! He was a perfect gentleman!!

I made Casper a black and white set with his name on the left side and some Christian beads in the middle in place of a pendant. He loves them. It was very windy (which normally gets him woundup) and he hadn't been worked in a few days and he was very responsive and he kept a nice rhythm. (I always mispell that). Heather, thank-you so much for the advice Heather!!

Well Heather to be honest LOL, I bought them because they were neat looking and well pretty LOL. My mare doesn't need to calmed per say but I have turned her into wearing all pink (very girly LOL) so why not top it off with a necklace rigth!!! But on your mini note she makes them to the size of the horse. So you would actually have a pair that would hang where they are supposed to!
