Coastal is in short supply in Florida. I have to get T&A or Alfalfa which is very pricey. 12-18 a bale. 18 for the compressed stuff. The 650lb bales of O&A is 120.00 and last's the mare and foal almost 3 weeks. I have one horse who eats coastal. The others get belly aches from it. Its pretty cruddy quality.

Heather, I was lucky to get 12 large rolls of bahalia last year and will be lucky to find hay this year. It's being cut right now but no one wants to sell it. We have a drought too. Large rolls were costing up to $50.00 each last year. I got mine for $25.00 delivered but that was from a friend who happened to have extra. A lot of people sold their cattle and horses because they couldn't find hay or couldn't afford to pay those prices. I'm thinking about selling half of my llamas this year. I can't handle them not having something to eat this winter because I can only get a few bales. I can't afford $50.00 plus a roll either. Thought about going to TN but fuel is just too high. Would end up costing me about $75.00 a roll or more. We all need to be doing a rain dance! And a lot of praying.

Where I live in AR there is a hay shortage. I know for a sqaure bale of wrangler burmuda is 6.00 a bale, and thats at our local feed store and only as long as they have it. I buy round bales of wrangler burmuda for 40.00 from a freind. He bales his own land and my father n law works for him so my hay supply shouldn't dry up netime soon. I also get square bales of the same kinda hay from the freinds brother since my father n law AI's his cattle. I hang on to the sqaure bales just incase someone is desprate for hay..no i don't sell it ..i give it to them...its better then having animals go hungry due to a horrible drought. So far this year we have gotten more rain then in the last 2 yrs and first cut has already taken place which is so much better then before. So just maybe there won't be such a shortage. Hopefull it will be a better yr for everyone, and no one will have to sell there beloves. heather

Where did you find that Pondarosa? I'd like to see if I can compare it to some others.
