Well Shina was calm while Steph was there but Steph has left and SHina is back to her frantic pacing about.

Well it looks like she's calmed down with some dinner to chew on, could it be she was just hungry....?

Geeze I have to stop myself and remember I'm watching Shina and not Misfer when she is first put into a stall. LOL I thought the same thing when she was pacing this morning and then Steph said she'd settle down before she foals. I remember her saying that about Misfer...famous last words? LOL! Wonder if Shina has something to confess like Miss Misfer did...

Well, we are PRETTY danged sure that Shina is preggers by Frost. LOL Shina has NEVER been fond of being locked up. SHe might actually end up more calm in the stall, but last year was a bit wierd with her foaling inside. She was up and down, the feet strted coming out, then she went down with her butt in the corner against the wall. She would push and the wall would push the foal right back inside! I had to get her up to move her, then she wouldn't go back down! I ended up having to pull him out while she stood there. Anyway, weather permitting, she will stay outside, BUT I WILL probably bring her in for the privacy if I see her dripping milk. I'll switch the other cam back to the stall later, so if we DO bring her in, no one misses anything.

She is such a beautiful mare. She looks like she's really speaking her mind as she's pacing back and forth.

She is kind of funny to watch when she does the nose-in-the-air and head tilted sideways thing while pacing...

LOL! I agree! I've gotten a kick out of watching her. She's definitely not bashful about how she feels!

Animated? More like NEUROTIC! Actually, she is one of the more high-strung of our mares, but she is still generally pretty laid back. I have some cute pictures of her out in the pasture last summer with her colt and Frost. I'll see if I can find and post them later. As for what she eats? She gets free choice grass hay with one flake of alfalfa once a day for the extra calcium, plus about 5 pounds of SuperHorse 14 (in 2 2-1/2 pound feedings) per day. That's pretty standard for out expecting and nursing moms except that the ones on pasture don't get the hay, just the grain. LOL I will try to get the stall cleaned when I get home and then switch the other cam back to the stall, so if she foals we can move her inside. After all, tonight IS the full moon...
