Really a novice here but we all know that Riley's park position is arse on wall. I have notice today that in park, she has shifted hind feet and weight alot. She is now slightly lifting tail, shifting on front and hind feet.

Well, she came in and woke me up, knowing that I had been up all night, to let me know that she had to come straight home instead of doing the errands she wanted to do after work because I couldn't do some things here at the house for her--because I had been up all night!! Followed by yet another lecture on "I don't see why you can sleep during the day and not at night" I tried reminding her, yet again, that the medication did this when I got on it, and now it's doing it again now that I'm increasing it. I just don't understand why I keep having to explain this to her EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!

Mom's get so used to talking that sometimes they forget to listen. Sorry for your frustrations Deidre. Maybe write her a gentle note on the side effects of your increased dosage.

Some of them will pace more and bite at their sides. After the birth they can be a bit more scared because of that "new thing" moving around in their stall. Most of them take to it pretty quickly and get the hang of nursing the 'alien' right away. Some take a little more coaxing to get started, but once they see how it works, they are fine. A few are petrified and don't want any part of the 'alien', and more work is necessary, and total rejection is a possibility, but rare.

I am learning so much, and omg "Alien" really gives me a maiden mare's perspective. Naturally I want everything to go perfect, but Kelly is very experienced. I have observed people putting the standing foals to the teet. All the foals I have seen stand for the first time come us butt first, is that a constant or just the few I have seen?

Deidre......... Being Kellys mom, I try not to scold, nag, and why don't you; because I have been taking care of Kellys Grandmother (My Mom) for the past 5 1/2 years and I get it EVERY DAY!!!!!
I love her with all my heart, but to her, she is the mom and I am still the child. To be told what to do and not do. What you should have done or shouldn't have done (even up to 40 years ago!)
So I know the feelings.......... It's hard, but I've learned to let it all fly over my head and just love her!!!
I have vowed to always accept Kellys decisions and support her the best I can and hopefully she will never have to deal with the constant Moms shoulds and shouldents.......... I'll Just Love Her!!!!!

I went and explained what was going on to her, more plainly, and I hope that she now understands what I'm going through a little better. It's a vicious cycle right now because the pain has gotten worse, hence the medication increase, hence the insomnia, hence my family never sees me... Hopefully it will straighten out within a month to six weeks.

Don't get me wrong, Kellys Grandmother is the most wonderful, giving, warm hearted and fun Mom and Grandmother. It's just that I will always be her daughter and she will always be "MOM"!!! Especially because we are living in the same home.
