You know of all of the "extremely" funny comments I have made, I am really surprised at the response to this one! Y'all, must know something I don't! You can read about Merry's many mini mares in her "What was I thinking" thread.

How appropriate! The name, Merry, moderating humor!!! I've loved her name ever since I read it here. Anyway.... I had no choice in my name... "Merry" does not refer to my state of mind nor does it reflect that I am a jolly person. I was born on Christmas day, in the early morning (can you imagine anything worse than having to have a baby on the most hectic day of the year?). I guess my parents were just being optimistic that I would joyfully romp through life with a smile on my face But, thanks anyway! And, I'm glad that I have such a wonderful co-mod in TSSP...it sure takes the pressure off! We humor mods have to work very hard to assure that all the little MSA's enjoy their all nighters and hang around this site so that us owners can get the sleep we need. It amazes me that there are folks out there that stay up all night, deprive themselves of any kind of life, are working so hard to be educated about foaling and diligent in their work, while those of us who chose to breed these animals, knowing that we would have to do all of the above, now can get a good night's sleep, can go out to dinner, run an errand and live a normal life while the MSA's do our work for us. All we have to do is pull the little thing out and stand it up for everyone to see... (okay, well I guess we do a little more than that) OH, and MY little superstud has only knocked up about 8 mares. TSSP had an itchy "0" finger I guess. And, yes he does have a big grin on his little face!

Merry, as being one of the MSA, and a big time night owl, I think you hit the nail on head!....LOL. But the only thing is, I don't deprive myself of a life, I don't have one....LOL, Soooo there for I turn to Mare Stare. Now can you tell me one place were you can get friendship, horsey, piggy, birdy, kitty, doggy, sometimes bunny, and donkey, education all wraped up in one??? Along with Humor to boot! Now I can not think of one place that can beet all that to make me want to leave home...LOL. So I admit to makeing a life for myself that contains nickers and neighs, snorts and grunts, barks, and meows, and hee haws! had to leave out bunny's, don't know what sounds they make. But hey, I can proudly say "I AM IN MY HAPPY PLACE"!

Aha! The humor mods are double-teaming on one thread. And I almost never read this forum, unless all the cams are down and I'm tired of grousing about it on every thread I'm watching. The only reason I caught this thread was because TSSP's name popped to the top on the big board. Twice, now.
So, I happen to know that both of you find humor in equine fecal balls. Don't you think we need a thread about that somewhere? Merry, I think of you 3 times a day every day . . . when I'm mucking out stalls. (It's excessive, I know. I don't even keep my horses up, but they are very virtuous, and they, of course, think I want the manure. So they come up to the stalls to deposit it.)
ANYHOW, I know you have ponies, TSSP, and I know you have minis, Merry - one of which poops more than Belle the Clydesdale. (Who was that?) But I have big horses and I also know that the average horse poops 50 lbs of manure every day. Oh, do I know it. But the thing is, either I am getting old and feeble, or else my mare is pooping 50 lbs of manure per pile . . . like depth charges that sink about 12" into the sawdust.
Perhaps, since this thread barely has any topic, we could take this one up?

hahahahaha! devotee your a trip girl! but man can I relate to the manure piles. I have three mini's and everything about them is mini, but there piles of poop!.....LOL. I have seen full size horses poop smaller piles! And for some reason the girls feel the need to go right at the gate to there paddock area, Like they don't want me to miss it....LOL. Like there is a chance of that happening. I used to think they winnied because they were happy to see me, now I know they are just laughing.

Now that we are on the subject of POOP, my gelding will cover his up just like a cat. This guy is 16 hh weighs around 1250 -1300lbs and thinks he's a cat!! Large heavy piles that will not fit on the manure fork!! My mare Sassy make a mess out of hers loves to walk it down into very small little pieces so that you can't get it without it falling thru the fork!! What we do for our horses...wouldn't have it any other way though.....I love each one of them..... Never a dull moment on the farm

Moon...the Mini vs. Belle...the Clyde These were taken at 3:30 a.m. so the night was still young...as poop goes... but the most priceless pic is how well Moon handled her poop piles...she knew exactly where to lay her little head...

Those pics are so funny! I don't have issues with poop. My boys rarely, if ever, poop in their barn. And, the poop out in the field mother nature and about 20 chickens takes care of it for me! Oh and I'm not the only one who thinks equine fecal balls are funny. My new puppy Leroy had one yesterday tossing it around like a tennis ball until he finally decided to just eat it!

Back when I boarded my horses on a huge farm with white-plank fencing for miles, there was a 17.2H Selle Francais gelding who apparently took issue with the splattering of his fecal balls, falling from such a height. In his stall, he crapped either in his feed tub or his water bucket. (Mind you, I cleaned up after this clown, in return for reduced board.) But the best part was his turnout habit of pooping on the top plank of the fenceline, which had an angled plank at the top. All those miles of fence were dotted with piles, perched perfectly on the top plank. What a goon!
Yeah, my horses like to grind the fecal balls into tine-proof particles. I think they are working for the sawdust company. Palomino gelding is a bit of a dandy, though, so he poops in the exact spot where the fecal balls roll out under his door and into the aisle.
Maybe we need a contest for the best fecal ball story?
Oh, and I always like to take advantage of this subject to warn everybody that horses pass potentially lethal doses of ivermectin in their manure after they are wormed. Keep your dogs off the hot meals for a few days after worming.

Oh, that is a good tip! It's been so long since I had a fecal ball eating dog I had forgotten about that! I will have to keep a sharp eye on Leroy for a few days after the first!
I have to admit this topic has made me pay some extra attention to the pooping habits of my ponies. Today, I noticed that nothing - whether it be fowl, feline, canine or equine - can poop in the field without Star's thorough inspection. Star will carefully sniff each and every deposit, curl his lip with utter disdain, carefully position himself atop the pile and pee on it! Then very proudly hike up his tail and prance back to the hay bale! I did not see Sun care much at all about poop today. But why should he? Star seems to have it all under control!!
