My dear Mare Stare friends, One of my Uncles is within days to weeks of losing his year long fight with cancer. The doctors say there is nothing more they can do for him. He now has a blockage in his intestine, and nothing is passing through, so he is basically starving. He is too weak for surgery. He is at home and has hospice, and my Aunt is a highly skilled RN, so he is being well cared for and kept as comfortable as possible. He shares my love for horses and has 3 at his home. He rode and cared for them up until he was no longer physically able, and his family is keeping them and caring for them now. I talked to him today, the hardest thing I've ever had to do, and we mostly talked about horses. He told me "Keep riding" and "I know there are horses in Heaven. Remember, Jesus is coming back on a white horse." I lost it when he said that. Anyway, please keep him and our family in your prayers. This is not the easiest and most comfortable way to go. He is only 62. I really love him and will miss him.

Deidre, Both you and your uncle are in our thoughts and prayers. There is nothing easy about loosing a loved one and I only hope his stories have offered you some solice for your grief. When I lost my grandmother to cancer 6 yrs ago I was devistated for many months. I still think of her often but now I think of her and only have happy thoughts. I know she is in a better place and not sick or hurting anymore. She found cancer for a long time. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and they thought they got it and she went into remission for almost 8yrs before they found it in her back. It deteriated two disks and she had a metal rod put in her back. Again she went into remission for about 8yrs when it popped back up this time in a rarer form in her veins, which finally got her.

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. My step grandfather just passed away not long ago from cancer. It's hard, but remember all the good advice and memories he has given to you.... Kim

Deidre, I am sorry to hear about your wonderful Uncle. It sounds like you two were very close, so that will leave you with some unforgetable memories to think back on. Its' so hard to let go, but we have to remember that our loved ones will be going to a much better place, when it's their time to go home. Please know that I'll be praying for your Uncle, you, and all your family. May the Lord give you much comfort at this time. God Bless you.[

Deidre, I am so sorry what you and your family are going through. Knowing that the end is coming and being able to say goodbye are sometimes a comfort, but I think it would still be very hard and I feel for you. Please know that you are in my prayers and my thoughts. If you need me - you know where I am. Your room is always open.

Sending prayers to your uncle, u and your family. I know from experience how hard this is. And Heather is right, sometimes when you have the chance to say goodby its very conforting in the long run. I lst my Mom to cancer 10 years ago. she new and she came with me to stay cause she wanted to die at home. It was the hardest thing i ever had to do. But now i would do it again, cause I have all those last comforting moments. Tho at the time it didnt feel that way. My heart goes out to you and Your family, Please know your in my prayers and thoughts. God Bless you and give you and all your family the will to stay strong
