My back is doing great. It does lock up and spasm on me every once in a while during an intense practice or dry land session but other than that it is holding up better than the doctors of myself could have ever expected.
Right now i am battling a left shoulder ailment. Due to training so much the tendons and ligaments that hold my shoulder in the socket have been stretched out causing my shoulder to fall out of socket, grind, and pop. It is doing better as of late thanks to an aweosme doctor and physical therapist.
Thank you all for your kind words. Sometimes its good to be reminded that all this hard work does not go un-noticed. However, i have never and will never be an athlete that is looking to be in the lime-light constantly, conceited, or have too much to do to take the time to work with younger aspiring olympians. In fact this morning after a 10,000 meter practice i got out and spoke to kids at the local Y about my experience in sports and what swimming has done for me. It was ton of fun to have one on one time with each of them to as questions such as "what are your horses names" and "why did you like swimming so much" ....
As for keeping you all posted on what i am doing i will do my best! I have a big meet the 18th of this month, this will be my first meet back since injuring my shoulder so i am pretty nervous.
Again thanks so much for your kinds words. You are all wonderful people and i enjoy this board and meeting all of you more than you know!

The meet is a west coast championship. So we will see how it goes. New coach, new team, first meet back. EEEK nerve wrecking for sure!
High School sports are awesome. I would not have missed out on them for the world!

I would not have missed out on them for the world! We're all rootin for ya! I'm not much for high school sports, but then again, I came from the lousist school for sports. We had football, his and hers basketball, his/hers/team tennis, a mixed soccer team, baseball, softball, track and field, and cross country. I too have asthma, the exercise enduced kind, blah. It sucks!

My asthma started out as excercise enduced, but after swimming for about a year it really calmed down.
I have had many bouts of pnuemonia though, and trained with it against my doctors orders a couple times due to upcoming big meets. This has caused me to suffer from puleprecy (spelling?) a few times. THis is a condition where due to high level of stress on your lungs it causes them to get tiny tears in the lung lining.

Skye - good luck in your upcoming meet! You are one busy girl - more power to you! I'll be thinking about you on the 18th - hope you'll be able to feel the good vibes coming your way.
