I felt like I would take it upon myself to make sure everyone is aware of the issue involved in the photo contest. This contest is supposed to be FUN, but certain people are making it so that it has become a hassle and have put others at a disadvantage.
Everyone knows what IP addresses are, right? They are basically just like your street address for your computer. You IP address is a number associated with your computer, and even if you change your screen name or user name, your IP address stays the same. Moderators can SEE your IP address with every post you make.
That said, some people are voting for photos in the contest and then changing their names and voting again, making it unfair for others. Here is what Heather had to say about it:

Thanks regret...its a shame that a contest meant to be fun has to take an ugly turn with trying to cheat.
I for one just couldnt decide which photo I liked best, but did choose one from each category...it was a tough decision!!

Thats why I normally don't enter Photo contests this is 1st Time ever..Usually It's How many people ya know or can Post on a Billion Boards for votes.
Or People do what you see happening:( I Have 2 of BB's Pics in there Hoping it would Be FUN...There are so many adorable Cute pictures That It should be an all around TIE;) But People have to FOLLOW the RULES and stop ruining it for everyone else.
Sad when these things happen..it's suppose to be FUN!!
Now come on people lets keep The FUN IN IT!!!!!

When I voted, I didn't even think of cheating. I voted for the 2 pics that I liked best, and they weren't even my own. It was definitely a hard decision between the funny photos. I agree, let's keep this fun, and let the best photo win, not the most picked! And still it's a shame to see the cheating and child's play going on. Thanks for posting Regret!  |

Yeah, I don't know why anyone would want to cheat. I picked the pictures I thought should win and sent my vote. I really don't see a point in cheating...

I voted, too, but it was sooooo hard (in a FUN way, of course)! Especially in the "cute" contest, I would have felt a lot better if I could have voted for my top 2 or 3 favorites. I had to invent some way to decide on just one - like which one would I buy if I had to choose just one on a greeting card. I'm still not sure that I ended up voting for my favorite because others tickled me so much.
I do have a suggestion, if there is another contest. If you have anybody sufficiently advanced in math (not me, for sure!), you can conduct a vote in which everybody votes for their top three choices, in order of preference. Then you tabulate the votes by assigning each ranking a value, and the pic that ends up with the most points wins. A mathematician might have to refine my foggy system, but it would work in some form or other. And it would make some of us happier than having to completely neglect pics we absolutely adore!

Whaddya think? Easy enough. Assign a value of 3 to first pic, 2 to 2nd pick and 1 to third pick. The biggest problem with that is that statistically it's possible to end up with a complete tie. With only one pick, the odds of a tie are much less. |

I was having such a hard time deciding that l lined up the family and we decided between the four of us which ones to vote for.
Mary l think it was 1st and 2nd in each section.

We have the winners, but we're making sure that midnight has passed everywhere- as that's the way I wanted it to run - midnight wherever in the world you are. AND Connie wants to double check the results. I'm excited and sad at the same time.  Glad it's coming to an end - and happy for the winners.......but sad that everyone couldn't win. There were some outstanding photos there. I'll be away from the internet all day so if Connie calls me and we verify everything then she can post the results. Otherwise it will be tonight before I get them up - if I can access the internet from the house we'll be a guest at. |
