Misty looks to be getting very close to foaling. After all the mild weather we had in January here, we are now getting hit by an ice and snow storm this weekend! Sub freezing temps and it's been sleeting for the last 3 hours!
Misty is tucked into her stall with the infrared heater on low. Doesn't look like she will foal tonight, but I'm guessing she will foal within the next few days. She's getting very uncomfortable and very cranky! I'll keep everybody updated. BTW, Misty is a grey homozygous tovero pinto and she is bred to Captain, my black tovero pinto for his second foal for me.

Still waiting on Misty here! She's at 332 days today and should be very close. Misty is also on weekly progesterone injections and though her bag was pretty big on Fri, it went down and softened over the weekend after having her progesterone on Fri. Monday it was back up to the Fri status, so I'm hoping not too much longer!

It's been a week since I posted that Misty might be getting close and I think she really is. Maybe tonight or tomorrow. She's had enough changes that warrant watching her very closely. I will keep all updated.

How exciting, Becky! I always await everyone's foals so anxiously! Can't wait to see what everyone got! It's like Christmas and finding Easter eggs and the fireworks of July! Like every holiday rolled into one!
Can you tell me why she gets progesterone? I am fairly ignorant on this subject.

Sandy, Misty is on progesterone due to aborting two foals in a row a few years back. She had two normal pregnancies and then aborted the next two late term so my vet put her on progesterone. She carried last year for 342 days with no problem whatsoever on progesterone and she looks to do the same this year. She's at 336 days today and I think it looks like tonight's the night! Famous last words!!!!

Hi Sharon,
Minis are born with more hair than their full size counterparts, but a lot depends on the time of year they're born.
My foals born in the winter always come out with thick, heavy coats. Those born in the summer have much less hair. Mother nature always seems to know what to do!
