Well Samantha ate half an apple and a few handsful of grain today. She also ate a little hay. I have been trying all her favorites all along without any luck until today. Maybe it will stimulate her appetite. The baby needs food. She also had a really good poop. A first in about 3 days. Yahoo! Those of you with horses and other animals will understand my excitement over poop. LOL. She is still uncomfy and breathes hard when laying down. She also is still favoring her right side which is where the baby is laying. She sits up but will lean to the right from time to time. This has me worried. Is the little one in the wrong position? We did have a major crisis though today. The heat. Samantha's temp soared to 105 this afternoon. It was 100 degrees at noon here. I keep her sprayed and I also have part of the stall floor damp. Llamas cool from their bellies. She was laying in front of the gate which is lower than the rest of the stall thanks to our mule. His name should be Digger not Jimmy. LOL. Anyway I put the hose under her chest and flooded the floor there. Had her laying in about 2 inches of water, which she liked. Dropped her temp down to 102 in no time. Then we had a storm come through with high winds and that cooled things down. Just when we needed it. Thank you God. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe this is a turning point for Samantha. I don't have my hopes up too high though. Melanie, the vet is the one who gave me the options but he said that I have to be the one to make the decision. He's been really good and kind. Even calls to check on her. And he lets me charge! Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes. You have helped boost my spirits during this difficult time. God bless all of you. Love you too Judy. Tell everyone I love them and miss them and let them know what's going on please. You may cross post this if you like.

Samantha passed over the rainbow bridge during the night. she did not suffer but went peacefully. While I am greatly saddened I am also feeling relief. She is no longer suffering and I know that I did everything that I could for her. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support. As I was going down the path to the shed this morning I noticed a morning glory bloomed out then some other wild flowers. Nothing has been blooming because of this horrible drought. I think God did that just for my beautiful Samantha. Here is the last picture I took of Samantha. It was taken a few months ago after rolling in the sand. Caught her by surprise. Can't you tell? LOL. Click on photo to enlarge.

So sorry to hear that Samantha passed over the rainbow bridge. Take comfort in knowing that you did everything for her and that now she runs free from pain with all our other furbabies. I to believe God sent the wildflowers not just for Samantha but for you to. (((HUGS)))

I am sorry for your loss. I was really hoping that she would be ok. Hopefully you can resolve the hook worm problem that any of your other lamas may have. Good luck with that!
