First off...
Never ever tie a horse by the reins, it's dangerous, not to mention stupid that you were riding with reins so old that they broke so easy, what would you have done if you were riding and they broke?
They clips on the side have nothing to do with how long they are.
Please please tell me that you are riding in a snaffle!
$10 to $12? I would spend at least $20 on reins, not somthing you want breaking on you! Can you afford them?
Also, haven't heard from you for awhile, have you got a shelter for the horses yet? Also, I hope you have stopped cantering and thought about getting a instructor for the horses sake!
Please work on your spelling too, if you try harder I am sure you could spell better.

My post was not mean, it was the truth. It also had good advice in it if you read it.
I save my money and only buy what I need for my horses so in case of an emergency I can afford care for them. I can only imagine what would happen if you had an emergency if you can't afford $20 on reins. $20 is cheap for nice quality, but maybe cheaper reins that break easy would be better for you if you are going to tie them by the reins, maybe it will save some damage to their mouths.

Crazyhorse, Lindsey's post was not mean, like she said, it was the truth. You should pay ATLEAST 20$ on reins, if not more. If you dont have the money to buy 20$ reins, I doubt you would have money to help you're horse if it got hurt.

Advice is nice to give. But lets not personally attack anyone on this forum...
