When does everyone start worming their foals and how often do you do it? I have a guy that is 3 months old and started shedding, but not too much. We are in Arizona and I would think he should have shed out as hot as it is here. I wondered if maybe he needed to be wormed. Thanks!!!

Babies are very susceptible to worms, so I start worming mine at 1 month. Even the twins got started at one month (and part of my brain says especially the twins). I worm them once a month until they are 12 months and then I usually put them on the regular rotation as the adult horses.
I don't know about babies in Arizona, but babies here in Washington can do all kinds of strange things when it comes to shedding out. Sometimes they'll shed completely, sometimes, they'll just shed a little bit and everything in between. It does seem to be influenced a little by what time of the year they're born and how much hair coat they're born with. The early ones are most likely to shed off completely, but don't always. And the same of those born with a really thick long hair coat. But nothing consistent enough to bet on. So, I guess my point, is not shedding out completely in foals doesn't always mean worms. But since you're this late on getting started I'd probably do a fecal count to get an idea. I'd be watching for the foal getting a potty belly. If that happens, I'd do a panacur powerpack for sure.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much!! Unfortunately I have to board these guys and it's been a few years since I had a baby in my backyard that I forgot. I do recall that I wormed early now, thanks for your experience. By the way, I haven't been on much this summer, but your babies are soooo cute!!! ;D

Thanks so much, I loved that picture of him. He decided to lay down and moms leg was in the way so he just leaned against her leg and she stood there while he napped. If you go to the website on my signature and go to the For Sale page and then to The Big Bonanza I have alot of pictures and some video of him. Lori
