Sept 10 from 1 to 4 we will be having our third annual open house. It will feature an open barn, a presentation of horses and a special presentation of the twins followed by a picnic. Everyone is welcome. We just ask that you RSVP so we can have enough food for everyone. Details will be on our website www.risingrainbowarabians.com I think I have someone lined up to shoot pics and to take video so maybe we'll be able to post after wards for those who can't attend. We sent out our usual invitations on Thursday and have already gotten quite a response, so I expect our numbers will be up this year. Trouble and Surprise should be pretty happy knowing how much they love attention. Especially since they're not going to get much from me from now til then while I'm getting this place and the rest of the horses ready. Hope to see some marestare folks there!!

There are so many reasons I wish I lived in Washington (again), and you've just added another one! I can't wait to see the pics and hear about the special presentation of the twins. It's a cinch they'll do something to make it more special than whatever you plan!

I've been free lunging horses (averaging about a dozen a day) getting ready for our open house and my jeans are getting looser and looser. I got on the scales yesterday to see where I was at and I've lost 15 pounds!! Boy am I excited - another 5 and I'll be able to get into my skinny jeans!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only problem is my fat jeans are getting pretty loose and I don't have anything in between the fat jeans and the skinny jeans. But I'm thinking by the time the open house rolls around I should be in the skinny ones!! How cool is that!!

The open house is finally over and I'm exhausted. I think the horses are too. I'm too tired to say much so instead I'll include a quote from a post on another site. It should give you some idea.
I went to the OPEN HOUSE and saw the twins today. Unfortunatley, I forgot to take my camera, not that it would have helped to take it since I don't have a memory card and haven't installed the C.D. to download the photos yet. Hey? I've only had the danged thing for two months now, so don't rush me, LOL! Anyway, the mare is gorgeous! A very dark, mahogany bay and very typey! They brought out her by leading her, and both foals were "escorted" by a different handler, and I have to say, the FILLY was quite a handful! Her name is Scandalous SURPRISE, and the colt is Scandalous TROUBLE, but the filly was rearing and twisting and striking out and giving Mikael one Hell of a time and her name should have been "Trouble"! The colt was very well mannered! When turned loose in the roundpen, the mare became upset, since both foals started tearing around, running LAPS around her! They'd go clockwise, slide to a stop, reverse, and go theo other way, tails thrown over their backs, etc.! Then one would reverse and the other didn't and they almost collided! Momma started nickering to them, obviously saying in "Mare lingo", "C'mon, kids! Take it Easy"! They ended up bringing a big tub of hay to keep her calm. One of the twins, I think it was the colt, tried to snatch a bite of her hay, and she pinned her ears and cow-kicked at him! I swear, the foals ran flat out for about 20 minutes. Mikael said that they had been confined to a stall for a couple of weeks, with only hand-walking because the filly had been diagnosed with a crushed hock in June and both foals had weak bones from the trauma and stress of being born small, etc. You could clearly see that they both were a tad "splayed out" in their rear pasterns, but didn't seem all that "weak" to me! The colt is shedding his foal coat and will be a black/bay like his dam, but the filly is jet black and has two high white socks and a very noticeable white blaze. Both have extremely typey dished faces. The filly is the bigger of the two. She is on the left in the photo above, but on YOUR right if you're looking at the photo, nearest the window in the stall. I saw Mikael's other horses and all of them were extremely beautiful. She has gorgeous horses, and her "head" stallion, who is a GS Kochise son, sired 3 stud colts that she has retained, and one of them, a chestnut with a gorgeous head is about 15.2 and very, VERY typey, the other two are bay like their sire. They are all pictured on her website, but the 3 colts are shown as foals. The chestnut is 4 years old now, and the two bay colts are 2 yr-olds.

Sounds like things went well! I think it's only fair that you Mikael take some well deserved rest.

Thanks, Cheri, I could really use the rest but from the way Surprise behaved when she was leading me out, I think I better tend to some schooling sessions with the little princess, then maybe some rest. You'd think after all of that preperation (I bathed 18 horses on Saturday plus all of the facility stuff) and the event itself, I'd have been out like a log. Last night I was so wired from the coke I drank to keep myself going that I found myself staring at the ceiling for most of the night. I did notice however at 3 in the morning the twins were fast asleep. But I'll bet I sleep tonight. My eyelids are drooping pretty bad.

sounds like it was a blast!!!! too bad i wasn't closer (all the way in RI) and i definately am familiar with the 'princess' attitudes lol :-) sometimes i don't think that any amount of training will ever take that sass away!!
