well i just got back from the show and my camera batteries are dead therefore my computer won't load the pictures :-( but i promise they'll be here by tomorrow!!!
so about the show. from a competetive point of view, it was a complete fiasco but from a mental & emotional point of view mollie did well. she was awesome warming up on the flat and over fences. then i get into the show ring and as i'm approaching the first fence she starts to back off so i added leg. the thing is, mollie is EXTREMLY sensitive and just as powerful so you have to use leg in moderation. also, mollie generally doesn't run out of fences. what she will do is stop before it and look at it for a minute and then pop over it or she will trot straight through it like it isn't even there and send poles EVERYWHERE. so i was extremely surprised when mollie ran out the first fence. it was a standard crossrail but there was a solid piece of wood in between the two poles that was as high as where the X meets in the middle. well poor little mollie thought i was running her straight into a wall. she ran out 3 times at which point you're eliminated but they allowed me to take her over another fence because it's a schooling show. well by that point she was fried and knocked a rail but she did go over the fence so i gave her lots of hugs for that.
the next course, one of the instructors from my barn got on her in hopes that she would get over more than one fence. well mollie did almost an exact replay of the first round lol. i really don't blame her for refusing the first fence so many times because in her defence, i've never jumped over a solid 'wall' (even though it was only about 20 inches off the ground) except for logs out on the trail. after the second course i got back on and rode her all around the farm to make sure she wasn't completely fried (she wasn't) and then she got back on the trailer to head home. i was very happy i went and i was happy with her performance although it was not 'pretty' to say the least.
my friend samm rode in the same two classes i did on her paint gelding dallas. well dallas blew everyone away by taking home a 1st and 2nd place out of 11 people. NO ONE was expecting it out of him!!! he's a very green jumper and actually jumped much better at the show than he does at home. go figure!!! briana, another girl from our barn rode her horse Calvin a draft/tb in 3 courses and got a 4th and 5th out of 8 people.
Laura had a very rough day. her horse is a 20y/o Arab gelding who has NO idea that he's 20. in her first 3 classes she got a 1st and 2nd out of 14 people. then in her fourth class, everything fell apart. she was almost done with an amazing round and allie was absolutely FLYING (it was a power & speed class) then he got to a fence he had gone over many times that day, he jumped it, landed quietly, and for an unknown reason flipped forwards and fell on top of laura. thank god he is such an amazingly smart horse because he rolled halfway onto her and then threw his body weight the other way so he rolled off her. laura has no injuries other than bruising and soreness. allie trotted off from it sound and his only injuries were 'road rash' from the sand arena. he scraped part of his nose, chest, and knee and although he'll be very sore he'll be ok.
so that was our day. extremely exciting with a TON of ups and downs. all in all, i was very happy that i went and proud of mollie's effort. if i had tried to do that with her even 6 months ago the outcome would not have been nearly as positive. i'll post pics soon!!!

ok i have about half the pictures loaded. i have pics of me and samm on a photobucket but the ones of laura are on a different camera and i'm waiting for someone to email them to me. unfortunately, there are no pics of calvin because he is absolutely petrified of cameras. and he's not afraid of the flash or sound that they make he is afraid of the camera itself. here they are: samm and her horse dallas blue: i love this one of dallas even though samm's head is cut off: before i went into the class: mollie finally walking over the jump she already knocked down: laura on mollie: mollie says that she WILL NOT go into the wall lol: laura looking like she's going to fall off mollie: mollie finally giving into laura and jumping (as you can see laura got a little left behind a very rare thing for her but she's always yelling at people for it making this one of my favorite pictures lol): well i forgot to post about tess. i know her because our dads work together. she is 9 years old and one of the gutsiest little riders i know. sometimes i think her seat is better than mine lol. here she is on her little arabian pony 'annie': sorry if some are a little big i know there are a lot!!!

i just got a really good look at those pictures (i haven't seen them that big) and i realize that some of them look a little ugly like we're hauling on mollie's mouth etc. i just want everyone to know that as horrible as some may look we are truly nice to her - i would never let anyone harm her and i don't want anyone to get the wrong idea.

Thanks for sharing the pics... they were great, even though it looks like Mollie wasn't enjoying herself. I can't get over how gorgeous Dallas is... looks like he's a good boy too!
