My very dear friend Angie, with J&A Farms found one of her weanlings colicing this morning. This weanling was Panella, a filly by Baby. For those of you who remember Baby - she lost her colt last year when it turned septic. Angie took Panella and her mom to Auburn this morning where they tried to make Panella comfortable, but even the strongest pain medications wouldn't work and surgery wasn't an option. Saddly Panella crossed over the rainbow bridge this afternoon and Baby is left without a foal again. Please say a big prayer for Baby and for Angie. May they heal quickly, emotionally and physically. Panella has gone on to a better place, free from pain.  |

I am so so sorry.Prayers for Angie and her family and special prayers for Baby...So so sad. Please let her know we are all praying and thinking of her...HUGS..Hope Baby recovers quickly..I am at a total loss for words

We were blessed with 5 beautiful foals this year at J&A. Baby surprised us all this year letting herself in the birthing stall to have her foal. I found a beautiful little filly at her moms side that morning. I was so excited after we got past the 2 week mark, I told Baby what a wonderful job she had done. I promised her that I would keep this lovely little filly that she had surprised me with. As Heather said in her post I went out this morning to find Panella down and I knew she had coliced during the night. I called my vet and he came right away, Panella was a little bloated so we were concerned that she may have a twist. I loaded both Baby and Panella up and we were on our way to Auburn. The words I don't like to hear Auburn!!! I stayed with Baby and tried to comfort her while they were working on Panella. The ultrasound showed no blockage or twist that they could see, they gave Panella some banimine and said they wanted to monitor her until afternoon and see how she was reacting to the pain meds. I left Baby telling her all was going to be alright. I got the call as I pulled back in at home that Panella had become painful again and wanted my permission to go in and punch a small hole in her intestine to let off some of the gas bubbles they seen on the ultrasound, that worked for a few hours and then she became painful again and I had to let her go I feel so sorry for Baby Cakes, I promised her tonight that if she is not already in foal for 07 I will not do this to her again. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for Baby. Rest in peace our dear little angel Your mom misses you very much I know you are free of pain and running with your brother little socks. Until we meet again all our love to you. I will post the necropsy results as soon as I have them. |

Angie with tears in my eyes I send you Love and prayers and Strength...I am at a Loss for words..and I Know the pain your in.
This all seems so unfair
