So, without going and looking it up on Google, I want to know the general idea of how many people really know anything about what is going on in Darfur. Please be honest.. I'm really just trying to get an idea of what the public's knowledge is on this.

Starvation, genocide - the worst catastrophe in the world, right now. Glad you asked, Regret. We need to be doing more to help.

Absolutely.. the problem is, the country is ill-informed about this since there has been virtually no news coverage of this. We have genocide happening right under our noses, and no one knows about it since there was only NINETEEN minutes of coverage for Darfur in all of 2005.

Wow.. certainly interesting results. Anyone else? Don't feel bad if you really don't know anything about it-- that is common.

So far, this, plus two others polls I've posted have said some very, very scary things. The three polls together have generated 184 responses, 25% of the people who have taken it have NO idea what Darfur is, and 52% of the people who have taken it have only heard of it or know very little about it.
This is so very, very sad. The thing is, I absolutely expected these results. The first step is getting people informed.

Ohhhhhh, Regret. Don't tempt me on this subject. It's such a sore issue for me. How impossible it is to find remedies for the terrible abuses in the world today when the media (and its audiences!) are unwilling to confront anything that is "negative" or "inconvenient."
Just to make this relevant to the MB, I'll note that the the main role horses play in my life is to give me the relief and joy I need in order to struggle full time with global issues like Darfur and the perils of media culture. Horses fuel me.
