for the first time since i started riding 11 years ago i fell of my horse. heres the story i went to the New Jersey Horse Show i had just gotten done hunt seat equitation and and untacked my horse and put her western bridle on to get for the jackpot class which was Ride a Buck. i had gone over to the field where everybody was warming up and i started loping her. Well as i passed this opening that led to another field some lady comes running out with her big dog. Well my horse didnt like that at all she spooked and veered off so hard that i didnt even have time to react. so she went to the left and i went to the right. It hurt alot (i landed right on my back) but thankfully my horse was okay and she had trotted off a little bit but as i was gettin up off the ground she came trotting back over to me and gave me look that looked like she was trying to say "I'm Sorry" she was a little spooky after that but shes okay now thank god. and i did get back on right after i fell

Congrats Nikki on your first spill. And good for you for getting right back on. That a girl! I think we all meet the ground sooner or later and it can be tough to get right back on. You have a horse that loves you and that is special. I'm glad you are both ok. Hugs!

Ah, you're not a real horseman until you've fallen off.
I swear I've been bucked off, dumped into a fence, reared off, jumped off, jumped OVER, fallen on, etc. I've been dumped more times than I choose to remember. Haha!

Good one tinypony. I have been through all that too regret. Have even been picked up off the ground by a 17.1 hand Clydesdale/Tbred cross and tossed. He was playing with me but I didn't find it amusing like his owner did. Nothing like being grabbed by the back of your coat and lifted off your feet then tossed like a ragdoll. Hurt my ego more than anything. Had a scraped nose from kissing the cement aisle with it. Didn't think the teasing would ever stop. LOL.

i've had MANY spills and i won't bore you with all the details but here are the more 'exciting' ones: being thrown off mollie into a fence (and then crashing through the fence and landing in the paddock on the other side; boy were those horses surprised!!!) then there was another time when i front flipped through the air and landed sitting down breaking my tailbone. little did i know that it was broken so of course i got back on and did even more damage. the other 'highlight' was during a jumper show when the horse stopped dead, i was too far into half seat and flipped right over his neck, landed on my feet on the other side of the jump, and after looking around threw my arms up and shouted TA-DAAAA!!!! lol - you've just gotta laugh about it and get back on :-)

Tinypony, did anyone get a video of that performance? Would have won first on America's Funniest Home Videos. LOL.

I've also had my share. One time, when I had just got Baylee, I went on a ride by myself on her. That was when I was just learning how to ride a horse (knew nothing of riding during a bolt). Well, I got to my mammaw's house, and she bolted to go back home. So there I was, going about 35mph, bouncing up and down on the saddle, gave up on the reins and held on to the saddle horn for dear life. We were going straight down and straight up steep hills at about 30mph, and I would have done fine until we got to the woods, when we were going down a hill, she took a sharp turn to the right, I lost my balance, and hit a big tree with the side of my head, went limp, and thankfully the good lord let my foot slide out of the stirrup, and got out of the crash with a minor concussion.
