In the St. Jude's Research fundraiser horse show.
They have some classes that I would be eligible for, but I am not sure what goes on in each... what I need to wear etc. I thought maybe you all could tell me what the best thing to wear in an open class. I have two show shirts, but no chaps... but I thought that chaps were only for like western pleasure classes...
Any help appreciated... It will be my and mystery's first show.

Well it depends on what classes you want to enter. What kind of Open Class? Open Gaited, Open Pleasure? For Gaited or Saddleseat, usually nice slacks, a button down shirt and a blazer style jacket. Pleasure if your using a western saddle, A western style shirt and a pair of jeans that match like; since Mystery is dark I'd go with a Turquiose or Teal Shirt and Black or Very Dark Blue Jeans. For an English saddle you would were the Legging style(jodhopers) pants and a blouse with a fitted jacket.

Well, I didn't get to show, but I went and watched the show. I believe that I could have done it easily, because the classes were very simple: walk, gait, turn around, walk, gait... and so on. A boy that I know down in Rockwood that we went and visited last Tuesday, took first in almost every class he entered... he would've been tough competition. I had fun, but would have had more fun if I'd got to show!
Thanks for the help, seems like I could've wore blue jeans and a button down of any color... it just mattered how your horse performed.
