Boy, am I gonna be sore tomorrow. The weather let up long enough to load up horses and go ride so I took a trailer load over to where Dandy is to ride. Horse number 3 and I hit the dirt. He decided he didn't want to lope over a puddle of urine right in the middle of the arena and leapt sideways. It caught me off gaurd and I lost my balance and it went down hill from there. By about the fifth stride he ran into the arena wall and stopped dead as I hit the ground between him and the wall. He took off before I hit the ground, so fortunately didn't step on me but my elbow hit the wall, I managed to leave a butt print in the dirt and somehow still land with my face in the dirt. Don't know how I pulled off that combination, all I know is as sore as I am today, tomorrow is going to be really bad. I'm too old to be falling off of horses!!

Thanks for all the advice. I'm not as sore as I thought I would be. My neck is pretty stiff and my shoulders are tight but other than that I'm doing ok. I rode yesterday over at the park and we worked on going through puddles. It was really not much of a problem, the darn horse seems to know that puddles belong outside and NOT in the arena. The young horse didn't like the puddles much though but we got through it and now he even lopes through them. The day I got dumped, there was another woman that got dumped about a half hour before me. She didn't fare as well as me. She was so sore yesterday she had to get someone else to even feed. I'll be rubbing it in that she was calling me "Grandma"

LOL! Grandma you are not! Glad to hear that you faired ok. A little stiff and sore is easier to deal with then what you expected to happen. It usually works out that way.

Glad things are better. Those spills sure can put the ouch to ya. I rode a horse in an inside arena that was being sprayed to keep the dust down. When we started to cross the part already sprayed she put on the brakes and I almost went over her head. What I was told was, a horse will see the darker spot and think it's a hole. It's because they can't focus well on things right under or right in front of them. Once they understand it's not any different they usually will cross that spot easily.
