(Copied from an e-mail I received):
There is a rescue in Georgia where the barn burned to the ground a week ago. They saved ALL of the horses, but lost EVERYTHING! There are a few things on SHI's eBay auction if anyone wants to purchase and donate it to the rescue, that would help out two causes!
The eBay items can be found here: www.netposse.com/auction2006index.htm
This is the info on the rescue:
First off - Lori got all the horses out of the barn safely. (around 35, I think!) She is ok as well physically but I cannot imagine the emotional turmoil she is in right now with winter here and being without anything! to care for these animals in retirement.
Everyone, please remember Lori of Sunkissed Acres Retirement and Rescue in your prayers.
here is her recent post to COTH in it's entirety:
I want to tell you with a heavy heart but......... ......... ........I saved every soul in that barn and could I ask for more. There would be no consoling me, I likely would have died trying, but by the grace of God, I remained as calm as if it were normal, and led each horse safely out the door. I went in my usual order with a rope around the neck and as scared as they were, they were looking for that safety. Oh thank the dear Lord. All the kids are ok.
On the other hand, when I rise tomorrow, the full impact of what I have lost will come to light. Not a bucket or a feed tub, not a garbage can which incidentally were filled at 5 tonight. NOt a halter, nor a lead rope, not a medication left or a supplement. NO running water, no lights, no fencing.
No blankets from the elements other than the 5 I had put on a bit earlier.
Not a thing left. And tomorrow, I will simply have to start over again because there are kids who are counting on there mommy, Its that simple.
Lori and ALL four legged friends. (even the cat found safety in the fire truck,)
So please - if you have an old "anything" or a new "anything" - send it on to Lori to use -here is the link to her website:
