I think the thing with Vee isn't so much that she wants the twins back but I think she doesn't like them with the other horses. She thinks she still needs to protect them.

For those who didn't see my other post, Trouble (bless his pea picking little heart) tried to breed a mare through the fence this week. He's on the list to be gelded as soon as our tax refund arrives. I don't need anymore raging hormones around here. He's come a long way....

that silly guy is feeling his oats i thought they didn't start that business till they were 2 years old ~ shows what i don't know

My mare was weaned at 6months old and had a colt of same age
BY the time she was 10 months old, she was in foal (was not my mare then) and by the time owner noticed, she was too far gone, and ended up a mum just before her 2nd birthday
So it can and does happen, I would only run colt foals with other colt foals after weaning. ALways pair them up with their own sex !
