Well...
I was lucky enough to acquire a wonderful and athletic Grey and White APHA tobiano mare about two months ago. She is 15 hands and about as wide as she is tall. The natural talent this horse possess is unbelievable. In the first day i rode her she had rollbacks, supplle backing up, and stopping with her hind end down pat.
When she first came she was a little stiff i her front end. Had her checked out and she was clean and healthy. So we began a training regime and got her on track for this summer's APHA circuit. She was doing absolutely amazing and right on track for ths summer ;D. We were all so excited here about her. She is also going to be bred in April to a black and white APHA stud.
About two weeks ago after being trimmed again she got real light on her front end . Pinning ears, not wanting to do anythign under saddle etc. So i gave her some time off.. however the symptoms of what I knew in my heart were founder kept up. Sure enough she is slightly foundered . Vet says could have possibly happened when she absorbed her foal last year, as it is very slight and he says would not have shown up unless riding her regularly. UGh....
This is all so incredibly dissapointing. She is a wonderful mare, with such great lines. I just wish she had the opportunity to show her stuff to the APHA world as we expected.
We are considering selling her as a broodmare to someone that is looking to raise prospects that drip with natural ability. So if you know of anyone looking for a wonderful well mannered APHA mare let me know. She is only eight, and will be bred in April.
If not then she will stay here and raise us wonderful show stopping foals.
Thanks
Skye
