The board is already closed to posting by non-members. I do not think that blocking others from reading the messages or viewing the cams would be helpful in any way toward solving this situation. I would suggest however the possibility of blocking the cam owner's phone number and having a moderator be responsible for placing the call should it be necessary. It would be the cam owner's choice whether or not to post their number. As far as unwanted posts, they are easy enough to delete, as well as the poster, if necessary.

here in england you have to register to join most message boards. it works well. over here they tend to leave one or 2 sub sections that non members can view that way people can still get an idea of what is happening before thay join. therefore i would be in favour of this change

Heather, whatever you decide is fine with me and if we have to register then so be it. The only question l have ( and someone else may has touched on it) is whats to stop this "other board" nominating a member to register and 'play it straight and nice' whilst feeding all the info they can to their offsiders, including numbers to ring etc.

downundermum, the sad thing is that they've been sending their nominated reporters over for quite some time now. Its just disgusting... after reading everything they've written, Laurietta isn't the only one that they've publicly flamed over on their forum.

Actually, the "spy" may play nice for a while here, but they DO usually give themselves away at some point!

I think it is a good idea!! Though, I watched for more than a month before I joined, on boards where you have to join. You can join first, then if you don't like it you can always unjoin (is that a word). Anyways, I think anything to protect cam owners and board members is a good idea.

I will go with what ever Heather says needs to be done... I must be really "blonde" or something, or I just stick here on marestare, I dont know other boards that talk badly about this one. What a shame some people do... and Spys... I guess I am really not aware of them... maybe I better get myself more upto date somehow.. Sorry its come down to this for you Heather... I also sometimes just lurk before logging on, but always log on

I'm on board to register both to post and view...maybe it really would help. I'd hate for some bad apples to spoil the privelege so many of us enjoy!

I also agree to having a members only board, as i closed my board last year to just the general public for the reason of some trolls, and I also do think that that would help with keeping our board the place that we all love to share our stories experiences and learn.

How long has Marestare been in operation? I have only been watching for a few months and it seems like there has been a lot of trouble. Is this a new thing or has it been happening all along? I feel for you trying to offer something educational and entertaining at the same time and then having the negative people stickin their nose where it doesn't belong. Sure would be nice if you could keep them out. It is sad that there are trouble makers everywhere these days. I think that I am already registered, but if not, I wouldn't have a problem. Maybe, make people pay by the year or something. Maybe that would keep out some of the huff and stuffers. Or if they say something wrong they are automatically fined. No warnings. It has been clearly stated in several places what the rules are. Then maybe they will keep their mouths shut. Yearly dues....I don't know that much about horses, except I love them. Even tho I got thrown last weekend and broke my pelvis. This will be a long recovery. That's my two cents worth, hopefully everything will work out smoothly for you,,,,I guess you are Heather,,,,,,,

I don't think it would be a problem to have people register. And it would be nice to keep the trolls away. Whatever is best for you and mare stare should be done. I am just grateful to have this chance to watch all of this since I no longer have my own horses. And it is always such a miracle to see new life enter the world! Thank you for the experience!
