ok i have a madien 10 year old quarter horse mare that started to bag up on 306 days very small plum size bag then 4 days later her bag went down to almost zip.today she is 315 days along she has started to bag again but this time it is a little bigger. she has slackened off a lot and her vulva has started to loosen. her belly has also started to drop a lot more. any advice as to why she did that?my vet should be comming out this week.thanks.

LOL Sounds pretty normal for a maiden!!! Even my broodmare her bag comes and goes and when it stays put you know you are getting closer!!!!!! You will usually see more of a bag in the morning or right after getting up. And if they are turned out they will normally walk their bag down a little. Its all pretty normal. Now if you are at her full term date (we base ours on 340 days) and still no bag I would then worry.

thanks. she is out all day till we get her stall finished.should be by this weekend.i stay at home all day and check on her like 15 or 20 times a day.so im able to tell if she drops more in an hour or anything else. i'll keep everyone updated on her progress thanks again.

ok i finally got a hold of someone at the vets office. the receptionist said that she would tell the vet and call me back to let me know if the vet is commin gout this weekend. she said that if she doesn't come out this weeked then for sure she will be out on monday! i'll keep ya'll updated.

well she is 330 days along today and she has a medium size bag.the vet came last week and told me anyday now. as for her bag the vet said that she may be the type of mare that doesn't bag up till she is in labor.her baby has been kicking around a lot more the past two days and she has been rolling around four times a day lately.she's been slackend off and elongated so i am in the waiting game with her and i have no cam to monitor her when im in the house.soo i'll give an update if anything changes or if she foals and i will post pics when she does. thanks
