I just received this message from Last Chance Corral. They really need our help. Please , please, let's get together and be Friends of Mare Stare, so to speak, and make donations to help them out:
Hey everyone, This is Heather McGrath, long time manager here at the Last Chance Corral, with the latest update on Foal Rescue 2007. We are, as I speak heading to Kentucky for 11+ new orphans!!!! The question is, "Can we feed them, and for how long?" The funding is simply just not keeping up with the babies. They're going to eat us out of house and barn!!! So, we are writing in yet another plea to help us help them. NO FEED/MILK=NO MORE BABIES!!!! We will not take any more than we can support!!! ANYBODY UP FOR THE CHALLENGE!!! PLEASE THEY/WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!
Sincerely, Heather McGrath (manager, LCC) :-)

maybe we could set up a adoption for individual foals and people could sponser each foal..sometimes people react to a picture and can see the difference in what their money is doing..kinda like sponsering a child in a 3rd world country..it is just an idea..i know alot of people on marestare do not actually own horses and maybe it will peak their interest in helping out those in need and giving them some type of feeling like they make a difference..

HI Golden Girl. I'm a little out of date on the acronyms. What is PM? I hope its good anyway and Tracey I think you've got a great idea. Anyone interested in doing this? If so, I can get back to Last Chance Corral and see if we can get a game plan together. One horse at a time is better than no horse at all.

HI Golden Girl,
I PM'd a response and hope to have an answer soon. Not sure when though because Last Chance Corral is so swamped with new foals.

This is posted on Last Chance Corral website:
Ways You Can Help
---~--- Sponsor: If you're not in a position to raise a foal consider being a sponsor. Foal Sponsors should know that with a $250 donation the money will not only be used to purchase one foal, but also will be used to purchase another foal, and another foal with each subsequent adoption. So your $250 donation can help save an exponential number of foals.
Adopt: Provide a responsible, loving home and promise to raise the little guy or gal with love and dedication. This is a tremendous commitment, but one of the most rewarding efforts one can imagine.
Contribute: Bring in the items the babies need every day. Milk replacer, yogurt, mineral oil, enemas, kaopectate, milk of magnesia, foal blankets, small buckets, milk pellets, nutraceuticals, and other supportive items are purchased by LCC almost daily. Please contact us directly if you would like to contribute gift-in-kind items.
Volunteer! Make a commitment of your time to help the foals hands-on. If you would like to learn the specific needs of orphan foals, and don't mind getting a little messy, we would love to give you the training and abilities to help. Truly committed volunteers are very hard to find, and we deeply value the addition of dedicated, reliable, warm-hearted help in the toughest times these little lives will ever experience. Go to the Elements Arabians board and click on Save the Sailor. They're trying to collect money to sponsor one of the little ones.
