Yesterday I went to the 4-H Horse Judging contest down at the Roane State Expo Center with my club. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. There were about 250 kids there. I messed up all of my reasoning to the judges. We stayed for the award ceremony. I placed 10th in the High Individual award... and when they said my name it about dropped dead because I felt like I wasn't going to get anything. 10th out of about 100+ high school/sr. club members. I was the only one from our group, but it was such a surprise for me. I don't know if I wanna do it next year though... This was my first time ever! I was excited and can't wait until April the 28th for our Roane county 4-H horse show. Do you all have any Ideas about how I can dress me and Mystery up for the Costume class???

First thing that came to mind was Indian War Princess.. on a painted horse...
But that may not be original enough...
How about dress as a fairy, and she is a fairy horse? That would be fun... lots of glitter... it would be feminine

mollie and i were fairies one year - she had sequined earrings, tu-tus for each leg, wings attached to her saddle and LOTS of twinkle!! one other year we were both hula girls - she had several leis around her neck and hawaiian flowers in her mane and tail. she also had the top of a seashell bikini around her chest and a hula skirt. for the hula skirt i took one of those signs that you would get at a party store or something - they say H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y across them with individual letters and there's all fringe behind it. then i just pulled all the letters off so i could put it around her stomach. that was the only thing i could find that was big enough!!! i'll try to see if anyone has any pictures but mine got lost on my old computer.... anyways have fun!

I have seen some really cute stuff but its always been for younger kids so not sure if you would like it or not. I have seen a the horse as a dragonfly (HUGE wings and everything) and the rider was a person who catches insects. Seen a horse dressed as a row boat and the kid on the horse had a oars LOL. Also seen one dressed as a lion with the scarecrow riding (Wizard of oz). Maybe one for you, tinkerbelle and dress your horse as a cloud. I like the fairy thing as well.

I finally came up with a costume that will work...(I thought of it after I had finished at the math competition yesterday down at Roane State). I am going to dress in mom's scrubs and be a nurse and am going to throw together a doctor outfit for Mystery... how's this: Dr. Mystery!?!

I was the coach for our 4-H horse club, and we went to the state comp. several times.Don't worry about your oral reasons, you placed 10th........Next year will be better because you kinda know what will be going on..I always told my teams to do the best that they could do and I would always be proud of them.. The first year they placed 13th as a team out of about 26 teams..the next year they were 3rd.. The next year our team had an individual that placed 1st in placing the performance class. But we won several awards that same year! It is a wonderful thing to be involved in,so keep up the good work and you WILL do great next year!!
