Horse entrails strewn across pasture MERIDIAN - Police are trying to find out who may behind a gruesome animal cruelty case.
"The first thing i thought was dogs but then i looked closer and she was shot…she was shot in the head and it wasn't dogs,” stable owner Debbie Ringline said.
Meridian stable owner Debbie Ringline awoke to neighbors telling her that one of her horses was lying on the ground, when Ringline checked it out, what she found was a horrific sight. The horse had been shot, disemboweled, and mutilated.
“The neighbors come by they say they like the horses they pet them they feed them carrots,” Ringline said.
But someone came by Debbie Ringline's stable in the middle of the night and did much more than that. A blue tarp covers the remains of a horse that was brutally slaughtered
“I found her lying there with a big hole in her head her insides were pulled out through her behind and they were spread around,” Ringline said.
Eight other horses on the property were covered in motor oil. Ringline suspects at least one of them may have also been traumatized, and the gruesome scene has her understandably shaken.
“This is huge,” Ringline said. “We've got people running around in Meridian with guns, and to shoot a horse and do what they did, I wouldn't want people like that in my neighborhood.”
If you have any information in the case, call Meridian Police.
