I talked to Angie a little while ago, and she said that Gabby is still a very sick little mare. She said that it seems that she's having heart-related problems, and they were getting ready to tap her for a fluid sample.
The foal is still moving around, and they can detect it's heartbeat, so it seems to be doing well. I asked Angie how old Gabby was, because of the heart issues, and she told me that she's only THREE years old!
She is going to call me later tonight to let me know how things are going and if they've found out anything else. I suspect she will post an update on the list, but if not, I will try to update everyone.
Keep the prayers and good thoughts coming for Gabby and the MRF family. They are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the update, Diedre. Love and prayers from here for Gabby and foal, and for her human family.
I bring special good wishes from Phyllis, one of our regular pals on another message board. She's sending prayers and love for Gabby. Phyllis's mini mare, Hooper, just got out of the hospital in Tulsa yesterday following a rough time with hyperlipidemia. I think she went in on the 24th. Hooper's worst point was when she foaled at home, and went into convulsions. She and her filly are back home and doing fine now, and Phyllis is watching Hooper very carefully to be sure she eats just right.
I thought when I read the first notes about what the vet said about Gabby that I'd read the same thing in a note from Phyllis recently.....

I am VERY glad you provided that updatd, and I am continuing with good thoughts and prayers. I am waiting to take delivery of my first mini and I am on pins and needles. I have owned, bred and shown Persian cats and though there is no species similarities, there are heart similarities. Persians are very prone to Cardiomyopothy, it is a really scary thing but survivable. Hopefully Gabby is young and strong enough to make it. Meanwhile I know that all the support her friends are providing is ALL GOOD. My family and I are all praying for a safe and speedy recovery and meanwhile we will be glued to the message board.
