Ok, so Buggy is obviously dislexic (sp). She had obviously started progressing for labor BACKWARDS!!!! Her bag filled very full about 2 weeks ago, ya know the same time her rear softened, her belly droped (only a little), and then within a couple of days POOF!! The amazing shrinking bag!!! Then this last Saturday (the 21st) she began losing her mucus plug, it was very obvious and definately her plug.
So today I have all this spare time on my hands this afternoon, had a tooth pulled yesterday and am supposed to take it easy. So I go out and brush the girls and take some updated bag pictures. Buggys bag hasn't changed much except that I can express honey colored fluid out of it... so nope, not ready. However if her butt slopes anymore and her tail softens she'll look deformed...lol. And her vulva is VERY drooped, full, and was opening a bit on the top. Ok, so she is a little different" is what I'm thinking.... Now we've foaled mares out before and maybe we just haven't had a mare that bags last yet, I know it's possilbe, but I haven't even met anyone who has a late bagger, maybe I need to get out more
Then this evening I notice her shifting her weight, stomping, keeping one rear leg VERY stretched out, biting her sides, wringing her tail or holding it to the side and elevated, ears back, pacing, and obviously uncomfortable. Off I go to the barn (her ploy is working, I'm getting my workouts...lol) and low and behold her vulva has actually dropped atleast another inch and is that scarlet red color inside. She was very... shall we say flacid, low, and puffy!! A friend let me know also that she was really butt pushing on the wall this morning. The tricky part... her bag still hasn't changed!!! Still clear fluid, still the same size as a week ago. All the other signs are there, I'm really just waiting for her bag. I should note that she is currently 323 days and her last foal was a suprise (and her first) so we don't have a "routine" for her yet.
Anyone else have a mare that bagged late?
Her last foal (and it was her first) took forever to get here and she bagged forever (2 months I think). She hasn't been exposed to fescue grass at all. I'm truly curious here if you guys have experienced it.

Just keep in mind those are the pictures from this afternoon and she has dropped more since then, I just haven't gotten the evening pics posted. It should atleast give you an idea as to where she is.....
