Why are all the "big time" show horses imported or out of imported stock? I am referring to the Dressage, Hunter & Jumpers of late. Why have most everybody decided that the warm blood horses are better than our American Quarter horses & our Jockey Club registered Thoroughbreds? I know that the warm bloods are bigger & can jump higher, but the TBs that do not make it on the race tracks, and there are literally thousands of them, need to have another job. They used to be our hunter/jumpers, but now they seen to be only useful for cross country.
I own an American Appendix colt, Flip's Golden Rajah. His sire Flip for J K, was a money earner for 7 years on the race tracks in the north east USA. Flip has fantastic TB blood lines also. His Dam is a registered Appendix Quarter Horse that has foundation blood lines on the quarter horse side also. Now I love my boy, and I will probably only trail ride him, there is a small chance that I may also show him at my favorite saddle club too. You know what ever I decide & want to put the effort into training for a show
Anyway, he just had his 3rd birthday April 14th. and this spring is acting TOO much like a stallion now. So I have the vet coming out on May 7th to castrate him. (I love my geldings) When I told his breeder about my plans, she about had a cow on me! She was all: "Flip's last colt, the end of his blood lines, etc, etc"
Well, I am not in the large horse breeding business, I only breed a couple of mini mares & have one stud, and he is enough of a pain to keep as it is. I just do not think that there is a large calling for yet another stud to stand around & wait for the slim chance that some mare owner out there would want a foal out of him. Plus, I really have no plans to promote Rajah "big time" against all the warm blood horses out there. Honestly, I do not have the financial means either. I feel that I am doing the responsible thing for both myself & Rajah. I will be safer riding him, and he will be a lot calmer around other horses too
Well.....thanks for reading my thread Mare Stare family
