Yes, we watched it at the beauty salon, right after the hockey game lol. (a guy came in to give a paint job estimate and said he never would have imagined sports being on at a beauty salon lol) I was rooting for Circular Quay, we won't talk about how he did lol. But I loved the way Street Sense stayed at the back of the pack, but then slipped up between horses at the beginning of the home stretch and just ran away with it! What a great finish!! Not only a great racer, but his jockey really knew him well .

You are welcome. I went back and watched the replay myself. On the backstretch the announcer called out that Street Sense is 19th!. Then mentions that incredible move by Bo-Rail and Street Sense to find the spot and get past Hard Spun (who had I went to Emerald Downs I was gonna bet a win-place-show ticket on). Extra Comments: That ticket (WIN_PLACE_SHOW On Hard Spun) would have paid almost as much as a win ticket on Street Sense. Even after I subtracted the 6.00 bucks for that ticket. * I don't usually bet large amounts; I do better when I when I pick a horse that I feel has the best chance to hit the board. Then I look at what the odds are; then decide to bet him/her. If I don't like the price/odds then I look for the next best horse I think can get on the board. When my horse wins I win some money, if it places I will break even or close to it unless the odds were high and a favorite loses. And If it shows, well at least I get some of my money back. The only time I really lose is if my horse doesn't hit the board at all; which can happen often at the races. Sometimes when I really like a long shot for a particular race after looking at the horse and what it says on the Daily Racing Form about him and the rest of the field I will bet a longshot. I usually bet on a horse that seems to have the best form on that day and gives me a reason to believe in him (like a huge drop in class, or has "been knocking at the door" recently) On great days I make some extra money on top of paying for my meal, my admission ticket and my gas. Good days I break even. And not so good days... I lose some money but I still managed to find a way to have some fun. Once in awhile I will do more exotic betting;but I like the challenge trying to just figure out the best horse on that day. Once in awhile I do an exacta or exacta box. Have not tried doing a wheel yet. I do love race handicapping, but there is so much to learn. I spent almost all my Saturdays last summer at the race track and had some great times there. I did find it and was able to watch it! Thank you so much!!!

Extra Comments: That ticket (WIN_PLACE_SHOW On Hard Spun) would have paid almost as much as a win ticket on Street Sense. Even after I subtracted the 6.00 bucks for that ticket. I usually do a win ticket, and then either a perfecta box or trifecta box I had a 6 dollar bet once, that ended up coming out to 18 dollars for the ticket because it was a box, and I won almost 700 dollars off of it But usually I just do well enough to make it fun I learned quickly that my daughters usually manage to pick the winner between the two of them, unfortunately the one time that I went to see the Derby in person I didn't have my head on and missed out. I had told them, before I went, that they could each pick a horse and I would put a 5 dollar bet on him and if it came in they would get the money. I made my own bet, forgetting that one of them usually picked the winner. Well, my oldest did pick the winner (Real Quiet), at 10-1 odds no less . So I was kickin myself for that one. Of course, my tickets were all losers to boot lol.

I'll have to try that strategy out that you do... but I won't have your daughter along to help though so maybe that wouldn't work for me. Can I rent out/lease your daughter next time I go to the races.... so she could tell me who will win. Maybe your daughter should be come a racetrack handicapper? She could set the morning line. I haven't won hundreds of doallars on one race yet. I did win about 48 bucks once on one race before. I am like the tortise when it comes to racing. Slow and steady wins the race... I get too wild and I start losing. LOL I always try to go home with more then I walked into the gates with.
