Okay - it WAS a photo shoot, but not of Belle...her 2008 foal (filly - per Tracy) So here she is....you are the first to see them...... and for those that are having a hard time figuring out what you are seeing...here's a narrative courtesy of Tracy....you can clearly see she has marked it as a filly. We look forward to seeing Belle on cam again in January 2008!!!

HOW COOL!!! Thanks for the post Heather!!! I have gotten to ultrasound a sow before!! Pigs are awesome!! You know they can estimate foaling time withing a two day window based on foal fetal eye measurements taken from an ultrasound now...Maybe we should try that on some mares !!

Tracey - can they really tell the sex of the foal? I have always joked about that, but seriously...with the advances in technology....can they?

The vets can sex a foal if they catch it at the right gestation period. It is pretty early on that you will be able to tell. I tried last year with Sweet Pea, but we were too late at 6 months.

I had my vet try for the colt in my pic, he said it was a filly! This was four years ago and it was new for him, he breeds Fell Ponies here in PA, and has waiting lists for fillies...he did it at about 60 days gestation. ....I am sure he has gotten better by now...Good luck and can't wait to hear the outcome....
