Well I just heard from the vet and Gabby and baby are doing good. It took Gabby 20 minutes to foal and she had a very big little girl. The filly weighs 28lbs! Gabby is doing good. Her heart rate is in the 50's and all of her blood levels are back to normal. After she foaled the doctor gave her some food and finaly Gabby is eating like a pig. Since she is eating the doctor said that they would start weaning gabby off of her IV Nutrition. Gabby did retain her placenta so they will be treating her for that. The filly is haveing difficultys nursing. The filly has a very strong sucking instinct but is just having problems finding the milk bar. So the vets put in a feeding tube and is giving her gabbys colostrum and some frozen colostrum from other mares. The vet did give the filly some plasma to get her going and have her on IV fluids. Gabby LOVES her little girl very much. Gabby and her filly are finaly out of Isolation and in the mare and foal barn so we will finaly get to go in with Gabby and meet her little girl. we are going to head up there tomorrow morning and we will be taking a camera .
I have decided that we are going to name Gabbys baby Mulligans Run Gabby's Hart of Hope. It just kinda fits because gabbys doctor's name is Dr. Hart and since she had issues with her heart and because my Aunt's(who apsolutley LOVES gabby) name is Hope. So that is what is going on right now. We will keep everyone updated as we go.
Thanks for all the prayers everyone has said and all the thoughts. We are still not out of the woods yet so the prayers are still needed and much appreciated.
Thanks everyone.
Shannon, Gabby, and little hope.
