I can't watch that race enough! THE most spectacular battle of two winners I've ever seen!!! She stumbles out of the gate, is 4 wide on the turn, and out runs the Preakness winner. WOW!!! Ironic that it happens on the day that "Ruffian" airs.... I witnessed Ruffian's travesty when it happened and for years, and I mean, YEARS, I couldn't watch a horse race. And, I still cringe everytime I do. But this race made everything come to light...this was a race of two best horses, and the best horse won and it was, of course, a ....all I can say is OMG!!! Oh, and thanks for the link Devotee!!!

That stretch duel is the most impressive thing I've probably ever seen in my years of watching horse racing. It was INCREDIBLE to see those two duel it out. No one can ever say those two don't have HEART!

I've been a Curlin backer all year - ever since I saw him run in one of his first races. He's got a gorgeous stride and a good mind. So, part of me was hoping that he would run away from the field in a huge (31-length?) triumph. But when he began his move as they came around the turn and Rags to Riches went with him, I went wild. In all my years of watching races, I've never seen anything like that stretch duel, either. They were eye to eye, and neither one of them would concede to the other. Gutsy, gutsy, gutsy! TBs at their absolute finest.
Even hubby (who was rooting for the filly to begin with) was up on his feet hollering.
I get sick with fear and exhilaration before and during races, too. But seeing something like that is what makes it all worthwhile. In my wildest dreams, I could never have anticipated a race like that one. There's no doubt that it will stand with Secretariat's victory as one of the greatest moments in Belmont history - maybe even in racing history.

This is a great race. I wish they had the girl in all three races then we could have a Triple Crown winner.
