....I am so confused at this point. I took my lou for a second ultrasound today. When we first unloaded her the vet thought she was preggers, just looking at her. She noticed the udder development, and that she is much broader in the sides now and lower in the belly. There has been movement, large bulges in her flanks, her croup areas are soft a squishy, no signs of heat at all, and now I can get clear fluid from her teets. HOWEVER, the ultrasound says NOT preggers. I asked about false labor(even though I and others have seen movement) and she said no, false pregnancy's very rarely get dragged out this far. Then I asked what else would cause the udder development, and clear fluid, she said some times when they are in a cycle they can do that. Well don't that mean there should be a heat? I am lost, confused, flustered, and completely dumb founded. If anyone can shine some light on this for me please help.

I can't really address the whole package of your worries, but I've had open mares and even unbred maiden mares develop bags and express some fluid (even white milk) relative to their heavy cycles. As far as I know, the only thing to watch out for is mastitis (and loose stallions).

I had a mare go the whole 9 yards. The vet was absolutely floored when the week she was due, she came into a full blowing heat, no foal. She did everything text book as far as being in foal. I hope you don't go through that heartbreak too. I hope they are wrong about the false pregnancy.

well I have no worries as far as a stallion being loose, my boy is gelded, even though he is not convinced...LOL. he tries but she kicks him away. She came to me possiably bred, and I have watched over time the changes take place. The vet says she sees nothing wrong with her, and could not give me any other reasons for all the changes. And thats where she left it.
