I am from the UK and most of the breeders over here turn their broodmares out daily even when they are close to full term pregnancy. I have had 3 mares on webcams on my computer since 8pm uk time yesterday and so far none of them have left their stables. I was just wondering why this was particularly as they must be prone to filled legs etc. I am not moaning in any way just interested in how people do things differently in other countries

hey there josie, there could be a number of factors that the mares have not gone out for 1. weather, there has been alot of snow and cold weather on the east/midwestern states. 2. owners may be away and only have viewers and someone on standby to assist mares if foaling. 3. mare didn't want to go out as she may be near foaling and dont want to associate LOL. Those are some of the ideas that popped into my head when reading your post...hope this helps and maybe Heather or someone else may be able to tell you..good luck in the mare stare.

ok doke, never thought about the weather, I live in london and the weather here might be very wet but we never get much snow or freezing weather, at least not bad enough to keep the horses in.
