Hi mare stare family!!
I have been around here now for a few weeks.
I am officially ADDICTED to this site!!
I love it.
We have a 6 year old ready to foal any day now. Her name is Buttercup and we just absolutely adore. She is such a sweetheart.
We bought her from an elderly man who couldn't take proper care of her and she really never got handled. But, the day we went to look at her, my two oldest daughters walked right up to her and she seemed to fall in love with them right then and there.
We have had absolutely no problem with her except that for the first 6 years of her life she had no shelter and we can't seem to get her to stay inside the shelter we made for her. So, during the rain and snow storms she stands outside in it. I hate it.
We tried to put her in the shelter and close the half door we made to it, but she reared up and broke the door in two!! She doesn't like being in there.
But, we moved her manger in there and her salt block so she has to go in to eat and get her salt block. But the stinker goes in long enough to get some food and go to the doorway and stop and eat it.
So she does go in there somewhat. I am afraid though when we have the foal. Buttercup will most likely stand out in the rain!! ARGG I am such a momma hen and I know that is going to drive me crazy.
She is due tomorrow and her udders are full and she is very agitated.
I am now on full watch.
This will be our first time foaling experience!!
I am a bit nervous, but I have been reading up along on the internet and by watching mare stare and seeing the foaling I am learning.
Well, I know that was a long post, I just wanted to introduce myself a little bit and let you all know I am watching!!
I would post a picture of Buttercup, but I am not good at that sort of thing.
Take care,
God Bless,
Tari
