For the first time to-day the mare won't let me near her belly. I also observed the foal kicking about 3-4 inches in front of her udder.
My husband got badly hurt at work to-day so i am home with him but my mare is about 4 miles up the road. I am going to check her agin soon but with the kicking in front of her udder should I be seeing a baby to-night???

Hey Tammy, I wouldn't be to concerned about her foaling tonight.....Tess's baby kicked like that (at the udder) for about 2 days and that was 2 weeks before she foaled. Now it could be different for you and your mare but that is just want I have seen in my mare. Hope everything is OK with your husband and good luck with your mare.

Thank you for the info. I stayed up all night worrying about not being there for her. This morning her teets are very full and she has been rubbing her tail alot. This is the first time I have seen her tail messed up. She was very anxious to get out side as she has not wanted to go out for a couple of days now.
I will be keeping an eye on her for a couple of days as she is progressing quickly.

my mare isnt due untill the 21st may but i have been feeling and seeing her foal kick just infront of her udder for a few months now. They usually do it when mare is waiting for her dinner or if the mare has been stood still for a while and then starts walking.
