Wanted to let those still watching Lies cam that the filly has been experiencing rapid respiration, much like Aarnink's filly did. She has been taken into the vet clinic and will remain overnight. At this point the vet thinks the heat and humidity may be the cause. Will gratefully accept your good thoughts for her.

Oh dear! I saw you (and maybe Shereena?) in the stall a few times this morning, and it looked as if you might be concerned about something. I'll sure miss watching Lies and her filly. That filly is just adorable! I can't take my eyes off her . . . but I guess I'll have to until she returns. Best of luck for a quick and complete recovery! And thanks so very much for sharing your exquisite horses with us!

The filly gave us quite a scare but things are better now. Her problem stemed from heat related stress. She spent the night at the vet clinic but has returned home this morning.....and the cam is on. I can see much improvement from yesterday. She is nursing well now and is much more active. Yesterday she couldn't breath well enough to nurse more than a few seconds. Thanks for the well wishes.

Thanks for the update Pam. Was wondering what had happened. Love watching both Lies and Octavia with their little ones.
Have you picked a name for the filly yet?
BTW Thomas is filling out beautifully.
Also have you got ay pics of them maybe on you website?

We have decided to chose a name from Lies's motherline for the filly. She is named Tilana and will be called "Tilly". She is feeling much better this morning and I think a few more days of maturity will pretty much solve her problems. Although not weak at birth, the shorter 325-330 gestestion period just makes Frieseian foals a bit immature as opposed to a 340 or greater period. We don't have any photos on the website yet. Now that things are calming down hopefully we can.

Pam..Years ago I started with the water misters..Now my VET demands them I Buy the cheap Plastic that are just Plastic with 2 lil nozzles(Knocks temp down about 10+ degrees) BUT what a difference it makes...The foals learn real early That the WAter mist will cool them down...BB has 1 right now at 7weeks(TODAY) I Still worry. But Iput the misters up day 1.. Cheap to about $8 at Lowes....HOme depot up there's to like 12 Talk about rip off.... BUT Poke the end thru their stall or wherever they are... I Swear it saved a foal or 2..... Hope the lil Filly feels better soon even here in So Ca we are at the 100 mark

I'm so pleased to hear Tilly is doing better! And I love her name. At the moment, she is standing appreciatively in front of the fan. (I tried misters years ago, but our horses found them spooky and unacceptable, for reasons of their own. Also, in humid climates they can sometimes add to problems of unremitting dampness and the evils of mold, insects, etc.)
