Hi Meribeth. I haven't been able to get the cam up for about 24 hours or so. Everything okay?

Hi devotee - no everything is not o.k. We're fighting a meconium impaction and mama and colt are at the vet. We thought we were going to lose him, but as of this evening things are looking up a wee bit. We're not out of the woods yet. Will let you know soon. Thanks so much for asking

Oh, Meribeth, my heart goes out to you. I'll have you in my thoughts, along with Fritza and her colt. It's such a troubled year! Please do let me know when you have some news. I have thought over and over again, with awe, about Fritza's ease and poise during that foaling. Love her up for me.

Hi devotee, Things are looking better today. Mr. Foalie might be coming home tomorrow. It is very difficult to love up Fritza for you at the moment . Her attitude is toward most everyone and I cannot blame her. She did nip some one at the clinic the other day. That mare has the most expressive face, she can really, REALLY give the evil eye. Once you catch her, though, she's fine. We're keeping our hopes up now though. It was really touch and go there for a while, but he's a strong one. Knocked me against the door while holding him for the vet, kicked the vets a few good one, too Meribeth

Oh, THANK YOU for the encouraging news! My heart has been in my throat. I'll be having myself a little celebration tomorrow when/if your cam comes up. Evil mares are my personal favorites- especially the ones who just posture convincingly. I'm not quite crazy enough to put myself in harm's way, but I sure do enjoy a bossy, opinionated mare.
Best luck to you. I'll have you, Fritza, and her colt in my thoughts.

Hi Meribeth. Is there any news about Fritza and "Squirt"? (I keep calling him Squirt to myself, because she just kind of squirted him out.) I'm sweating it out, hoping for the cam to come back up on the 2 of them. Meanwhile, my thoughts are with you, and I am hoping for the best.

The impaction was solved and it's a blessing he had it, because we are also struggling with a case of NI (neonatal icterus) - incompatible blood types, basically foal is poisoned by the colostrum. Foal has had transfusion and now we're waiting and hoping for the best. He was a bit low yesterday and have not heard this morning......

Whew. Thanks for the update, Meribeth. I realize it's still a tricky situation for you, but I am so relieved to know that the colt okay and even progressing. After all this initial outlay, he's got to be bound for greatness, right? Hoping to see them back on cam soon. Best of luck and jingles of support!
