Hello all, new member here, hoping to get set up with some cams before mine start arriving late next month. First off, we have a metal barn but thankfully it is very close to the house (you could throw a rock from it and break a window) so from what I understand our options are wireless with an antenna that is run to the outside of the barn or hardwired (which I understand will get less interference and thankfully our barn is close). I'd like to know what kind of barns, cameras & set ups you folks have so that I can see the reception and quality they get before we go spending lots of money. Thanks in advance for your input, Ginny www.weyekinacres.com

Hello! I'm hoping more will post here for you so you have some options. We use the wireless cams from barncams.com. I have a wooden barn with a metal roof and it's less than 300' from my house. Because we're in such a rural area (lots of traffic and close homes) we have to use boosters on our antennaes because of the interference. But if we were out in the country with less interference we wouldn't need them. My cams have two plugs on them, one for power to the camera and one for power to the transmitter which runs to out outside of the barn. And I have my transmitters mounted on a board up as high as I can put them outside.(need a straight line of sight) Then the receiver is in the house by my computer. It's in a window facing the transmitter. I live in a two story brick home, so I have the receiver in a window upstairs. it's easier to go through glass than brick , but I do have a client that has the receiver just pointing through their wall and the picture is clear. (not a brick house). Hope this helps you!!! Feel free to ask additional questions.
