What's your favorite horse movie? I have two favorites. Racing Stripes and Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron. I've seen Hildalgo, didn't care for it too much. If you look closely, Hildalgo is sometimes a mare instead of a stallion. My all time favorite is Racing Stripes. I love the character Sandy. That horse is beautiful.

I sheepishly admit that my favorite horse movie - of all time - is "The Black Stallion" (the first one). I love that there is very little dialog, lots of beautiful cinematography, and lots of shots of beautiful horses. I have to say that I do not care for anthropomorphism - I like to enjoy horses for who they are, and not make them out to be like an over-grown "Lassie" So, for me, "The Black Stallion" is a stretch, but somewhere in my 40 year old heart is a little girl who wishes she could be the one to tame a wild stallion with love! To make matters worse, my second favorite is "Black Beauty" No matter what I do, I cry every time I watch that movie! Oh, brother! Anyway...I'll deny that I ever said the above if it ever comes up!!! Thanks for bringing up a great topic! Kelly

Thanks! I just really like Racing Stripes the best. My least favorite character is Sir Trenton. I don't know why, but I really don't like that horse. Bad guy or not. The voice actor who did Sir Trenton used to be a politician.

Well more a rodeo movie then a true horse movie mine would have to be 8 seconds, another good one is wild hearts can't be broken. My grandmother remembers watching those horses dive off the pier in Atlanta all those years ago!

I LOVE Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken and Eight Seconds, both excellent movies! I also love Dreamer, Black Beauty, the original Black Stallion, the young Black Stallion, Spirit and Racing Stripes. I know this wasn't part of the original post, but how about favorite horse books? My favorite from my childhood is Misty of Chincoteague, I actually bought the series recently and I love them just as much as when I was a kid. When I was a kid I also loved the "Thoroughbred" series and "The Saddle Club". I think I will find those old books and read them again!
