Thanks for the update. Sounds like she's ready to go. Not to make you worried, but like my mare, she will probably foal while you're gone because they know when you leave for a while. If you really trust your neighbor, or have a family member do it,you could ask him to come over and check on her, every so often. Good luck, and still in my prayers for a safe and healthy foaling. Sorry to hear you can't keep her in a stall. Keep us updated. Can't wait to see her foal!

Thank you SO much for the update on Buttercup!! I was hoping to hear that she had her foal by now, but all in due ime I guess. You mentioned that Buttercup keeps looking across the road towards her momma, is Buttercup the only horse you have, or are there others? I'm asking, because horses are herd animals and need to be with other horses (or hooved animals such as donkeys or goats even) it all a part of thier nature. I'll keep checking in for updates on Buttercup, hoping and praying that she foals for you soon....but not on Thursday!! Thank you Mary for keeping tabs on our Buttercup!! Yes, Buttercup is the only horse we have (till baby makes 2!! LOL) I keep telling her that if she would just have her baby then she wont be the only one and she will have company!! HEHEHEHE But, she isn't listening to me yet.

Tari, Thanks for the update on Buttercup. I'm not sure if I got the whole story on her correct. Was she pasture bred by her sire? Are they sure about the dates she was bred? What was the last date she was bred? I think I told you before that I'm foaling out a pony mare (Marbles) that has lost two foals. We have no info on what happen to those foals, just that they died. I'm still waiting to hear the dates that she was bred. From what I remember hearing from my friend last year, she's due around April 14th. She just came in late Sunday night, and she's doing great. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Please keep us posted on how things are going and if you have any questions feel free to ask. Diane Yes, she was pasture bred by her father. We are not sure on the exact bred date, the person we bought her from said that she was bred before April 15th (there abouts) That is when her mother was bred and he thought she was bred before her. But we are now thinking that he got the two horses mixed up because her mother foaled about a month ago. Which would have put Buttercup due about March 15th. We have no clue as to the last date she was bred. The man we bought them from didn't seem to take good care or concerned with them. They came from a sad situation. We are rooting for you and Marbles to have a healthy baby too!! Thanks for the concern and thank you for offering your help Tari

We have been told that a watched mare doesn't foal!! LOL But, by golly, I am NOT going to miss this miracle!! Thank you for keeping her and us in your prayers!! Please continue to do so as we are still waiting!!

Has her udder changed any? Any updated Pics??? Her udders are huge!! Her nipples are pretty much standing down straight. She doesn't like anyone near them or even acting like we are going to go underneath her belly!! We have tried to trick her by giving her treats to keep her busy while we try to look. But, we haven't taken out the camera to get any more pictures. We need to though. But, as of tonight, they aren't leaking or anything. Her nipples are just standing straight and ready looking. Tari

Thank you all for checking up on Buttercup. Well, it is Friday night and STILL NO BABY!! ARGGGG We are hopeful that soon it will happen for her. She is huge and miseable looking. She doesn't walk as fast as she used to !!! LOL The man who lives across the street from us and who bought Buttercup's mom was out there today in his field and it looks like he was checking all the gates and fencing area. We are thinking he will be putting out her mommy and her new baby sister. So, we are hoping that that might help Buttercup to have her baby because she will be able to see her mom. We were out with her tonight (the weather is georgeous) and my husband even got in the field with her and was loving on her and shaking her belly and she was getting frisky!! IT was so cute. My husband would run away from her trying to get her to run with her (my daughters have gotten her to run with them). He would rub her belly and shake it and run away from her and she would shake her head and run and try to pick up her back feet. Bless her heart though, she couldn't raise her back feet up too much ~ her belly is putting a stop to that. But, he was trying to shake up the baby enough to want out!! She has been biting at her side lots again today. While we were out there, she even laid down on her side and grunted!! She even let my husband come over and rub her belly. She then rolled a few times and then got up; but she had a hard time getting up. Grunted as she did. I feel so bad for her. I keep telling her that if she would just have the baby, she wouldn't be alone anymore!!
So, nothing new to report on here. Other than we are still sitting and waiting and watching. I was really glad, however, she didn't go ahead and have this baby yesterday while I was gone. I was worried that is when she would do it, but she was a good girl and didn't!! LOL
We only have a cam in her shelter that goes to our house. We don't have it hooked up or wired to put online. I wish we did, so you all could see her. But, as soon as she has this baby, we will post pictures.
Thank you all for keeping tabs on us!! Take care, God Bless, Tari

Thanks for the update on Buttercup, was wondering and hopeful. Hang in there, she will have the baby when she is ready. I agree with Mary, a goat or something might make a nice companion for Buttercup. My sister has barn cats, and the horses like them! Wishing you the best.
