Ok, I know it's a hormone, and I know what it does for the mare. What I want to know is, what does it do to women? I know I always see and heed the warnings about wearing gloves. But I'm just curious, what happens if you do absorb it?

From what I remember being told it can affect your Periods, by either blocking them from coming or causing them to be heavy. Now that is with over exsposure(sp?) one drop isn't likely to do anything but it is best not to take a chance.

Regumate can cause your menstrual cycles to be irregular. It can also cause fetal abnormalities if you are pregnant. It is really important for any woman handling it to double glove and not come in contact with it. I am personally very senstive to it and if I get any at all on my skin, then I suffer side effects from it. If I have to give it, I apply it to the mare's feed rather than squirting it in her mouth.

Ok, so I'm a worrier. Last night when I fed our mare the regimate, a drop splashed back on my face. I dabbed it off with a papertowel, then wiped with a wet papertowel. I doubt it'll do anything, but like I said, I tend to worry.

Regumate in horses is used to maintain hormone levels that are supposed to make a pregnancy "stick" or drag out more. It Progesterone. However, hormone levels are not the only factor that influence pregnancies, so it does not always work as hoped. It is more commonly used nowadays, but should not automatically be administered without checking hormone levels and have reason to do so.
