I keep hearing about the rear end and tail head going soft in a mare that is close to foaling. I have a mare that should foal any time now but I can't tell a difference if she has softened up or not...... Does anyone have any before and after pictures of their horse getting soft? Thank You

look here at these two sites and you will see pictures of mares ready who are soft in the rear end... this one shows alot of different things if you search around (udder developement, milk veins, V'ed abdomen, soft hind end, etc)http://www.ravenhurststables.com/New%20Web/Mare%20development.htm and this one if you read you will find all sorts of pictures to give examples of changes you will see in a mare ready to deliver.http://www.equine-reproduction.com/board/messages/13850/21519.html?1176169452 here is a couple pics of mares hind ends...you will notice the muscles next to the tail soften and the tail sticks up, sometimes it will make a mare look like she is losing weight.http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k62/heatherlovesgerald/000_0777.jpg i167.photobucket.com/albums/u158/Roxanne381/IMG_1297.jpgI hope this helps you !
