From Buttercup's Dad:
When we sit out there with Buttercup, she comes right over to us and then she lays down alot of times. Right now, our oldest daughter , Ash, is out there with her and within a period of 10 minutes she laid down and then within the 30 minutes following she had laid down a total of 3 times. So, within the 30 minutes she was down about 20 minutes just laying there. She rolled right infront of Ash twice. She even stayed put while Ash came over to her to rub her face and forehead. (I must say, how cute) She even felt comfortable enough to fall asleep a minute or two. She did lay on her side only about 10 seconds. She did look back at her behind a few times. You think maybe she wants us out there to feel more comfortable to foal? Remember, she is in a field, not a stable. Her mom is across the street within 200 feet of her when she is out and around from her barn area. Maybe she wants someone out there with her to foal?

Tari was out visiting our girl. ( I think Buttercup is holding out for max attention myself, just like the rest of the girls I live with) and she opened and looked at her vulva (i wont do dat...) she said it is a bright crimson in there... There was some goopy light brownish mucusy kinda color stuff on her tail and vulva Tari's description not mine.

Sounds like her mucous plug!! That means you could have a baby anytime...or Buttercup could be like Riley and hold off another 2 weeks or so...lol
It does sound like Buttercup is making progress...I'm so excited to see pictures of the soon to be foal!!

I had to come in. I was getting cold. My dad said that we can put up a little tent outside her pen that way we wont be so cold.

Definitely sounds like she lost her mucus plug. So, that means not long... thank goodness! I've been waiting ever since you posted on RNR's message board.
COME ON BUTTERCUP... TIME TO HAVE THAT BABY!!!

we had a madin mare who waited out on us a full week of her acting like she was dying, and she would stop as soon as we went away. One day there was just alot of people in the barn, her water broke and had it in front of alot of people

so it isn't uncommon for horses to want people around then?!! That is what we are thinking because as soon as the girls go out there, she starts moving around and laying down. When we aren't there she just stands in the corner of the field. I told the girls that I bet she doesn't have this baby at night (while I am on duty watching her) I said she will have the baby during the day while they are out there (they are homeschooled by the way, so we are working around school!! LOL) But, tomorrow the girls are going to go out and sit with her all day to see if that helps her do it. They have a tent out there to go into to get out of the breeze if there is any tomorrow. So, hopefully that will help her feel comfy and just do this thing!!
Thank you for the response!! Take care, Tari
