Hi everyone!! Just an update on our Buttercup. She still hasn't foaled yet, but we think it is getting closer!! LOL Yeah, right, we keep thinking that. But, she does keep laying down a lot more now. She has even laid down on her side a few times which she hasn't been doing yet. We are keeping a close eye on her. She is cranky though!! I went in her pen to give her some lovin and she just pushed me away!! She didn't want me to touch her!! But, I know how she feels; I remember when I was just about to have my babies!! I was huge and miserable. So, I understand. Anyways, I thought I would post some pictures of her today. Here she is grazing today: Here is Amber pampering her while she lays: And here is pretty shot of her: Thank you all who are praying for us and a safe foaling experience!! Take care, God Bless, Tari

Bless yalls hearts. Love the 'Cup & love the camp sight! I wish you had gotten a full side shot. Buttercups belly will get really pointy in the center bottom when her foal starts to turn and get into position. I couldn't tell from the pic if she looked like that. Also her rump muscles will relax, and she won't look as round, she'll look pointy in the hips. You may have to wait awhile still
THANKS for the pictures, can handle wait for your foal pictures to be posted Email me, and I'll email pics of my little mare to you, and how she looks at 335 days from the last day of cover. ;D

She is very nice and yes, her getting cranky means she's getting closer. Can't say as I blame her.

From the dad..... Her belly is hanging low and pointy. Her behind shakes like a bowl of jello , and is looser today than it has been. She has lost a lot of her behind. Her tail looks like a big ball is holding it up. Buttercup's mother is a haflinger and her father is a welch and belgian. She is twice as wide as her mother at the shoulder and rump. she is about 12 1/2 hands tall and her legs are stouter than the 15 hand appalousa across the street. the biggest problem we have is we bought her (and the guy across the street, who is a crankshaft, bought her mother same time) late Sept. both were bred when we bought them. The man we bought them from said Polly ( Butercup's mother) was bred april 15. He did not know when Buttrcup was bred, but it was likely before then. The man across the street said Buttercup looked to be about a month ahead of her mother. On Sunday, Mar. 12, Polly threw a filly, but here we are watching and waiting, and waiting and watching. Poor, Buttercup is watched 24/7 for the most part. If we de breed again, we will be sure to carefully track dates and care better for her than the previous owner.

Have you heard the saying:" A watched pot never boils"... I think the saying here is:"A watched mare never foals"... LOL! Seems like she is getting really close. Good Luck!

Hi Dad, sorry for the untimely reply our Internet provider goes off on the weekends allot. I was in the middle of replying to you yesterday and snap, I was off line the rest of the night
Anyway, from your description of Buttercup, she is getting ready to foal. You may even catch her foaling as much as you guy have been watching her. ;D Good Job!
Remember that once she starts to foal it goes quickly. I knew a gal that was also camping out at the barn. She went inside to get a blanket, and when she returned guess what? There was a new foal on the ground!
When foaling goes right, it is fast! Good Luck, and keep up the great work! And don't forget the pictures!
