What is going on? She has been perfectly healthy and now a runny nose?!?...
Anyways, I took her temperature... normal. She has a good apetite and isn't depressed or anything out of the ordinary. We just put them into the new pasture three days ago, and now we have a runny nose. It is thick, and greenish and is running out of the upper (top) part of her right nostril. Besides it being thick, there is a drip of clear liquid also. I am going to have mom call the vet in the morning.
Could she just be having a runny nose from pollen?
OH, also it S-T-I-N-K-S... STINKS!
I've looked through all of my books and these are my possibilities (but I don't think but one of them has the closest symptoms):
Rhinovirus
Equine Influenza
EHV (which I'm pretty sure she DOESN'T HAVE)
Sinusitis
Help Please!
UPDATE 5-9:
Went to the vet today. He said that her nose is probably running because of allergies. He said that if she gets any other symptoms such as coughing, runny eyes, elevated temp. just to call him up. SO, that is very good to hear. Oh, and all three got their coggins done and rusty gelded!

I wouldn't panic too much. Very well could be pollen or she could have choked while you weren't watching. Keep an eye on her and keep temps as well. And, keep us informed.

Horses suffer from allergies just like we do. That's what it sounds like to me. And just like us, an allergy can lead to a sinus infection. Don't you wish you could teach her to blow her nose? LOL. Make sure to call the vet though. Better safe than sorry. Keep us updated.

My guess is she has a sinus infection, if it smells. I would have the vet out to look at the horse. I had a horse who did this every year, due to the pollen, I would just put him on SMZ's for about 10 days and he would be fine. Sometimes it would come back later in the summer, and other time it would not. I would not be to worried but do have the vet out.

I have some wonderful herbs I can send you that should help! My horses love them and think they're treats, but they're actually vegi-tabs for upper respiratory issues. They usually clear things up pretty quickly.
Just let me know if you want to give it a try!!

Heather, I'll talk to my mother this evening and see what she says... I told her to call the vet today. We'll see what happens. They are up in the field all day today (we've been just letting them go in the evenings... but now that they are used to it...). Thanks so much for all of the replies.
